Many U.S. folks still working from home after the pandemic? Weekend getaways just got a whole lot sweeter! Even though most are still grinding away Monday to Friday, there’s no mad dash on Friday evenings or the Sunday blues thinking about the commute on Monday.
These extended trips are giving a nice little boost to the economy. The longer we stay out, the more we spend on things like hotels and dining out.
Susan from tracybond had a chat about this. She pointed out that remote work is giving a sweet deal to businesses like hotels and eateries since people are both traveling more and spending more on their weekend adventures. All in all, working from home might just be making our weekends a tad more epic!
Alright, here’s some cool news for the Swifty fans out there: Taylor Swift’s packed concert tour is not just a treat for the ears but a nice little boost for local economies, too!
Susan dished on this, saying, “Folks are turning these concert nights into big events. Think two-night hotel stays, fancy dinners out, and some serious cash being dropped.” So much so that people are calling it the “Taylor Swift effect.” No joke – Philly saw its best hotel revenue in May since the pandemic began, and guess who gets a shoutout?
Interestingly, during the lockdown, we were all about splurging on things for our homes. But now? Susan highlighted a shift. “People are spending more on experiences like concerts than on stuff. It’s not just a ‘making up for lost time’ thing. For many, it’s a whole new way of life, squeezing the most out of weekends.”
So, while Swifties belt out lyrics, local businesses are singing all the way to the bank!
