Lionel Messi Cuddles the World Cup Trophy in His Bed after Returning to Argentina for a Parade
Lionel Messi, who is the captain of Argentina, took a picture with the World Cup in his bed after he and his teammates and fans in Argentina celebrated the team’s win on Tuesday.
Messi put up an Instagram post called “Buen da” in which he looks like he is sleeping while holding the World Cup trophy.

After winning the World Cup, the Argentina team got off the plane at the Ezeiza airport in Buenos Aires and thousands of people came out to greet them.

The Argentine capital has been partying since La Albiceleste beat France 4–2 on penalties on Sunday at the Lusail Stadium in Doha. This was Argentina’s first world title win since Diego Maradona won the trophy 36 years ago.
The players landed at 3 a.m. local time. Messi was the first one out of the plane with the World Cup trophy, followed by coach Lionel Scaloni and then the other players and team staff, all of whom wore their gold winners’ medals around their necks and took turns holding the World Cup trophy high.

From there, the team took an open bus to the Argentine Football Association (AFA) building, where they will stay for a few hours. At noon, they will head to the huge Obelisco monument in the center of town, where hundreds of thousands of people are likely to gather.
Messi, who is 35, said that the final would be his last game in the World Cup, but he plans to play a few more games for his national team.
