Microsoft has officially discontinued the Internet Explorer browser. The web browser was introduced as part of the Plus! add-on package for Windows 95 in 1995. Later versions were available as free downloads or in-service packs, and were bundled with Windows 95 and later OEM service releases.

Why does Microsoft shut Internet Explorer?
Microsoft 365 will stop supporting Internet Explorer on August 17, 2021, and Microsoft Teams will stop supporting Internet Explorer on November 30, 2020. Reports indicate that Internet Explorer will be discontinued on June 15, 2022.
Sean Lyndersay, programmer manager for Microsoft Edge, declared that “the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 lies with Microsoft Edge.”
“Not only is Microsoft Edge faster, more secure, and more modern than Internet Explorer,” he said, “but it also solves an important concern: compatibility with older, legacy websites and applications”.
“Internet Explorer mode (‘IE mode’) is integrated into Microsoft Edge, allowing you to view older Internet Explorer-based websites and applications without leaving Microsoft Edge. The Internet Explorer 11 desktop program will be retired and support for certain versions of Windows 10 will end on June 15, 2022, because Microsoft Edge is capable of handling these and other responsibilities, he added.
Internet Explorer will be fondly remembered by anyone who used computers in the 1990s and early 2000s at home, in schools, and in businesses. For millions of people around the world, the browser was their initial point of access to the Internet.
