Elon Musk does not appreciate MacKenzie Scott’s charitable donations.
“Super wealthy former wives who despise their ex-partners” should be included in the list of “Factors contributing to the decline of Western Civilization,” Musk stated in a post mentioning Jeff Bezos‘ former spouse.
Musk replied to another user’s comment about Scott donating to organizations that focus on race and/or gender issues.

It’s not clear why Musk specifically mentioned MacKenzie Scott, but he has been a strong and outspoken opponent of initiatives supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
“DEI is simply another term for racism. It’s disappointing that anyone would use it,” Musk wrote on X in January.
This isn’t the first instance where Musk criticized Scott for her philanthropic efforts.
Elon Musk announced in May 2022 that he intended to support the Republican Party due to feeling neglected by the Democratic Party towards his companies Tesla and SpaceX. Elon Musk expressed concern that his companies were being overlooked, in part due to Scott’s donations to PACs disguised as charities.
It’s clear that MacKenzie Scott does not have a favorable opinion of her former spouse. Regrettably, many others are being affected by the situation,” Musk wrote in a post at the time.
Scott and Bezos were married for 25 years before they officially divorced in 2019. Scott was awarded $38 billion in Amazon shares as part of the settlement.
Since that time, Scott has been actively involved in philanthropic efforts.
In 2022, Scott announced in a Medium post that she had contributed almost $2 billion to “343 organizations that support the voices and opportunities of individuals from underserved communities.” In that year, Scott donated $275 million to Planned Parenthood.
Scott has chosen to provide funding without imposing specific reporting requirements, unlike many other philanthropists. Scott has received praise from organizations that appreciate the autonomy she has granted them.
“The most valued gifts are those that are not restricted because universities have diverse needs,” said Ruth Simmons, the former president of Prairie View A&M University, in an interview with the Associated Press.
In 2020, the university received a $50 million donation from Scott, making it one of the largest donations it had ever received.
Scott’s former partner, Bezos, has a unique way of approaching generosity. In November 2022, he mentioned to CNN his intention to donate his wealth, but he admitted that philanthropy was just as challenging as creating Amazon.
Bezos mentioned to CNN that the challenging aspect is determining how to accomplish it with leverage.
There are several ways in which I believe you could also do things ineffectively. It’s important to carefully consider the decision and ensure that the team includes talented individuals,” Bezos stated.
Indeed, Musk also participates in philanthropic activities. In 2021, Musk contributed $5.7 billion in Tesla shares to the Elon Musk Foundation, a charity he established with his brother, Kimbal, in 2002.
The organization has contributed to a range of causes, such as renewable energy, space exploration, and artificial intelligence, as stated on its website. In 2021, the organization contributed $160 million to various nonprofits, with $55 million going to the St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as reported by Bloomberg.
