A new digital radio antenna was installed on top of the Eiffel Tower, which increased its height by 6 meters (19.69 feet) on Tuesday, reports Reuters.
After the DAB+ (digital audio) antenna was flown onto its pinnacle by helicopter under a leaden sky, the tower, erected by Gustave Eiffel in the late 19th century, now measures 330 meters.

The Eiffel Tower eclipsed the Washington Monument during construction to become the world’s highest man-made structure, a status it held for four decades until the Chrysler Building in New York City was completed in 1929.
According to TripAdvisor, the wrought-iron lattice tower is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world.
It has, however, been used for broadcast transmissions for almost a century, with the height of its apex shifting several times as old antennas were replaced. The chopper lowered the antenna onto its base atop the tower, where workmen secured it in an operation that lasted less than 10 minutes, according to live television photos.
