Google Drive for Android has introduced a useful two-page view for reading PDFs on devices with bigger screens like tablets and foldables. This enhances the reading experience on expanded displays.

Previously, Drive only offered a single-page layout for viewing PDFs. But it now automatically enables a side-by-side page view when scrolling through PDFs on larger screens.

A toggle button to turn this two-page mode on or off appears alongside the search and overflow menus. When enabled, pages are displayed together like an open book to take advantage of the additional display real estate.

Google specifically designed this feature for Android tablets and foldable phones where two standard pages can fit side-by-side in landscape orientation. It aims to optimize PDF reading and navigation without having to constantly zoom in and out.

The two-page view mimics reading a printed book or document, providing a more natural PDF reading feel on big screens. It is particularly useful on devices like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

This new PDF viewing option is rolling out now to all Google Workspace customers as well as personal Google Accounts. Users just need the latest version of the Drive Android app.

It joins other tablet-focused Drive enhancements like multi-window support, a navigation rail, and expanded home screen widgets that similarly optimize Drive for larger displays.
