Shania Twain has announced that she’s preparing for the iconic Glastonbury Festival this summer by packing her wellies.
The Canadian country-pop superstar, set to perform on the Pyramid Stage for the coveted Legends Slot, revealed her plans in an interview with Elizabeth Day on the How to Fail podcast.
Embracing the Festival Spirit
Twain, 58, is gearing up for her debut performance at Worthy Farm in June, joining a star-studded lineup that includes headliners Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and SZA.
The singer expressed her excitement about the festival, saying, “I am getting into the spirit of the whole experience. I will be bringing rubber boots – wellies, as you call them here.”
She humorously noted her readiness for the infamous Glastonbury mud, adding, “I want to go to other stages, and I’ve heard that you should be prepared for the mud.
I will probably wear a cowboy hat if it’s raining or going around the stages so I can keep myself from looking like a wet rat.”
Performance Preparations
While Twain has yet to decide on her stage attire, she assured fans that she’s working on it. “I haven’t worked out what I’m wearing yet, but I will figure it out,” she shared.
The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” star also spoke candidly about the challenges of performing live, particularly when it comes to remembering lyrics.
“I don’t beat myself up too much when it comes to that failure. It’s challenging to remember that many lyrics.
But when people are singing along with me, and they get the words wrong, it throws me right off.
Even when they stop singing, sometimes I lose where I am,” she admitted.
Reflecting on Personal Challenges
During the podcast, Twain opened up about her biggest personal regret, expressing a heartfelt wish that her late mother could have witnessed her success.
“They say not to wish for things you can’t change. But you have triggers like an award show,” she said. “My mum was there for all of the beginning and none of the success.
It’s regrettable in the deepest way that she never got to witness anything.”
Anticipation for Glastonbury
Twain, who achieved global fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hit albums such as Come On Over and Up!, was confirmed as part of this year’s Glastonbury lineup in March.
Expressing her excitement on Instagram, she wrote, “The legends slot at GLASTONBURY 2024… Another jewel in my crown!! I feel so honored and so excited about this one!
Thinking about what to wear already… and tell me, what should we sing together?! Let’s make history this summer with this ultimate dream performance!”
Her performance at Glastonbury follows the release of her sixth studio album, Queen of Me, last year.
Twain joins a prestigious list of artists who have previously played the Legends Slot, including Diana Ross, Barry Gibb, Kylie Minogue, and Lionel Richie.
Additional Performances
In addition to her Glastonbury appearance, Twain will also headline the British Summer Time Festival in London on Sunday, July 7.
She will share the stage with a diverse lineup of stars, including Stevie Nicks, Robbie Williams, SZA, rock band Kings of Leon, K-Pop sensation Stray Kids,
and Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, who will perform on dates across June and July.
Glastonbury 2024 Lineup
This year’s Glastonbury Festival, taking place from June 26 to 30, features an eclectic mix of artists.
