Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott Announce Engagement After Four Years of Dating

It’s official! Actress Zooey Deschanel and “Property Brothers” host Jonathan Scott are taking their relationship to the next level. After four years together, Jonathan proposed during a family trip to Scotland, with a little help from Zooey’s kids, Elsie and Charlie.

Why Scotland, you ask? Well, Jonathan has deep roots there; his dad emigrated from Scotland to Canada when he was a teenager. Jonathan even donned a kilt for his brother Drew’s wedding back in 2018.

The duo first crossed paths back in August 2019 while filming a “Carpool Karaoke” episode. Joining them were Drew Scott and Zooey’s sister, Emily Deschanel. This chance meeting led to a fun karaoke night out in L.A., which later blossomed into a romantic relationship.

A glimpse into their romance reveals some sweet moments. They were caught holding hands in September 2019 and later confirmed their relationship at a “Dancing with the Stars” event. Fast forward to October, and the two made their relationship Instagram official with a double date at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.

They’ve shared many memories since, including Zooey attending the grand Las Vegas wedding of Jonathan’s elder brother, J.D. Scott, and quarantining together during the pandemic, where their shared love for music kept them entertained. Zooey, part of the musical duo “She & Him”, and Jonathan, who’s released tracks with Drew, definitely seem to strike a chord together!

In 2020, Zooey made a splash on the HGTV show “Celebrity IOU,” hosted by the Scott twins. She partnered with them to give her best friend an unforgettable home renovation. By 2022, the couple was celebrating their third anniversary at L.A.’s Magic Castle clubhouse, one of their favorite spots.

On the personal front, both had their share of relationships before finding each other. Zooey was previously married to Jacob Pechenik, with whom she shares her two kids, and before that, to musician Ben Gibbard. Jonathan, on the other hand, was formerly married to Kelsy Ully and dated Jacinta Kuznetsov for some time.

Now, the two seem ecstatic about their future together. They even embarked on a home renovation project, turning a 1938 property into their dream home. Here’s to new beginnings and a lifetime of happiness for Zooey and Jonathan!
