XDefiant Pre-Season: Complete Guide to All Game Modes and Maps

xdefiant pre season game modes maps guide

XDefiant is gearing up for an exciting year ahead, and Season 1 is just around the corner, launching in about six weeks. But what can players expect during the pre-season? Let’s dive into the details of what’s available right now.

Game Modes in XDefiant

XDefiant offers five different game modes, some of which will feel familiar to Call of Duty fans. This familiarity is part of why XDefiant is expected to attract a large player base. Here’s a breakdown of the modes:

Domination

This mode is a staple for Call of Duty fans. The objective is to control three designated points on the map. The longer your team holds these points, the more you score. Expect a lot of fast-paced, chaotic action.

Hot Shot

Inspired by Call of Duty’s Kill Confirmed mode, players need to collect items dropped by defeated enemies. The player with the most pickups becomes the “Hot Shot” and gains stat boosts.

Escort

In this mode, your team’s goal is to escort a robot from one side of the map to the other. If you’ve played Overwatch, you’ll recognize this mechanic.

Occupy

Similar to Call of Duty’s Hardpoint, this mode involves fighting for control over a moving location on the map. It’s somewhat like Domination, but with a dynamic control point.

Zone Control

Teams must control all zones on the map. Once one team has control, a new area opens up for contention.

Game Maps in XDefiant

At launch, XDefiant offers 14 maps, divided into two categories: Arena and Progression. Some maps are inspired by previous Ubisoft games, reflecting the game’s roots in the Tom Clancy universe.

Arena Maps

Arena maps are designed for standard 6v6 gameplay, featuring tight spaces and numerous kill points. These maps include:

  • Attica Heights (Ghost Recon Phantoms)
  • Dumbo (The Division)
  • Echelon HQ (Splinter Cell)
  • Emporium (The Division)
  • Liberty (The Division 2)
  • Mayday
  • Nudleplex (Watch Dogs 2)
  • Pueblito (Far Cry 6)
  • Showtime

Progression Maps

Progression maps offer a bit more space and checkpoints, though they are not as expansive as some other large-scale maps. These include:

  • Meltdown
  • Midway
  • Times Square (The Division)
  • Zoo (The Division)

In conclusion, XDefiant’s pre-season offers a variety of modes and maps that will be familiar to fans of similar games, making it accessible and engaging from the start. As the game progresses into Season 1 and beyond, players can look forward to even more content and updates. Stay tuned for more details and get ready to dive into the action!
