Teresa Giudice’s $3M Tax Debt Exposed Amid Money Trouble Denial

Teresa Giudice Tax Debt

Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ) star Teresa Giudice and her husband Luis “Louie” Ruelas are facing serious financial heat after court documents revealed a combined $3 million in tax debt—despite the couple publicly denying any money issues.

Massive Tax Liens Exposed

According to official records from New Jersey courts, Teresa and Louie have been hit with a total of $3,037,255.20 in tax liens.

  • On March 20, 2025, Teresa was issued a lien of $303,889.20.
  • Louie received a lien for $163,523.94 on December 12, 2024.
  • His most recent lien, dated March 6, 2025, was the largest—$2,569,842.06.

Together, these amounts add up to more than $3 million in unpaid taxes. Despite these numbers, neither Teresa nor her representatives have publicly responded to requests for comment.

Old Debt Still Lingers from First Marriage

This isn’t Teresa’s first brush with tax troubles. She still has an open tax lien from her previous marriage to Joe Giudice. The lien, issued in October 2015, totals $551,563.30, covering back taxes from the years 2000 to 2013.

While Teresa has paid off several older tax debts from her first marriage:

  • A $243,425.50 lien for 2014 was released on September 6, 2023.
  • Another for $219,804.38 from 2015 was cleared on September 13, 2023.
  • A $64,157.64 lien for 2016–2017 was paid off on November 6, 2023.

She also cleared a $17,061.32 lien in May 2023 for the 2020 and 2021 tax years.

In June 2023, Teresa’s lawyer stated:

“Ms. Giudice has been aware of her tax obligations for years and makes significant timely monthly payments towards her outstanding tax liabilities and will continue to do so until those liabilities do not exist.”

Struggles Behind the Mansion

Financial concerns for the couple go beyond taxes. In March 2024, Teresa and Louie took out a $1 million loan to help pay off their lavish $3.35 million New Jersey mansion, which they purchased back in January 2021.

Initially, no mortgage was placed on the home. However, the recent loan indicates that the couple may be feeling financial pressure. The property, located in Montville, is under an LLC where Louie is listed as the sole member.

Money Drama on and off the Show

Rumors of financial instability have been a hot topic on RHONJ Season 14. Teresa’s long-standing on-screen rival, Margaret Josephs, was caught on a call saying Louie “pissed her money away.”

Teresa fired back during an episode of Tori Spelling’s podcast “misSPELLING”, saying:

“Margaret says my husband spends all my money. Like, b***h, you don’t even know what you’re talking about… She’s putting out this false narrative. And it’s like, she’s trying to make me her storyline.”

Despite the claims, Teresa continues to generate income from her podcast, “Turning the Tables,” and social media endorsements. Louie also holds a high-level role as Executive VP of Business Development at Digital Media Solutions, a Florida-based company.

RHONJ on Hiatus Amid Behind-the-Scenes Chaos

The couple’s financial woes come at a tense time for RHONJ, which is currently on pause. Cast member Dolores Catania recently told media that the show is on uncertain footing.

“We have heard nothing from the bosses about our show… Nothing from production, nothing from NBC,” she said. “The fighting got out of hand. It just got too messy.”

While rumors have swirled about a complete cast reboot, Dolores doesn’t believe Bravo will fire everyone.

“I don’t think they want to revamp the whole cast… Like us or hate us, we work good together on our best and worst days.”

Bravo producer Andy Cohen also added fuel to the fire. In July 2024, he teased on his radio show that the series might undergo a full refresh:

“We’re going to reboot it. Maybe just all fresh faces? We’ll see.”

By December, Andy had confirmed that fans shouldn’t expect the next season anytime soon:

“You’re not gonna get it for, like, a year… so stop asking.”

Despite denying money troubles, the recent court documents paint a different picture for Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas. With more than $3 million in tax debt, a newly refinanced mansion, and a reality show on indefinite pause, the RHONJ star’s financial reality seems more unstable than ever. Whether they can bounce back or not remains to be seen—but one thing’s clear: the spotlight on Teresa isn’t fading any time soon.
