The Surge of Mobile Sports Betting Apps in the US, Benefits and Drawbacks

Mobile Sports Betting Apps in the US

As new states adopt sports betting, there has been an increase in the influx of new betting sites. Despite up to 40 states allowing sports betting, only 29 permit wagering online. Online betting has proven to be more convenient than betting in a retail shop. Bettors may wager in the comforts of their homes without the need to travel to a physical sportsbook. It also enables bettors to access betting platforms 24/7. Hence, you can wager from anywhere and at any time.

The Rise in Popularity of Sports Betting Apps in the U.S.

The U.S. boasts over 40 betting platforms, with the majority starting as retail platforms. Nevertheless, a number of them have added more flexibility to their services. They provide bettors with betting apps to wager on their favorite sports. The first among them is DraftKings. The company started as a daily fantasy sports platform in 2012. In August 2018, DraftKings became one of the country’s pioneers in online sports betting. The platform currently offers bettors a mobile sports betting app in 24 states. DraftKings is only one of the few platforms to provide odds for bettors in over 20 states. Other notable ones are FanDuel, Caesars, and BetMGM.

New sportsbooks continue to make their way into the betting industry. The likes of Fanatics Sportsbook and Underdog Sportsbook are examples. The Underdog Sportsbook app is only live in North Carolina at the moment. On the other hand, bettors from 17 states can wager on Fanatics Sportsbook.

Sports on Mobile Sports Betting Apps

Of course, they are called mobile sports betting apps because of the sports available for wagers. Almost all of these platforms enable customers to bet on major U.S. sports. Odds are available for the NFL, the NBA, the NHL, and the MLB on both top betting sites such as DraftKings and newbies like Underdog Sportsbook and Fanatics Sportsbook. You can also bet on the NCAA March Madness, the World Series, the Super Bowl, and the Stanley Cup.
Some of these sportsbooks also provide odds for other sports, including Soccer, such as the MLS, FIFA World Cup, and the English Premier League. The leading ones, such as FanDuel and Caesars, offer betting on golf, boxing, rugby, tennis, MMA, and Formula 1.

One thing that sets the best US sportsbooks apart is the advent of new sports. Compared to these sports betting apps, many betting sites lack improvement over time. The idea is to introduce new sports to accommodate more customers. The top sportsbook apps will likely add odds for NFL, NBA, NHL, boxing and college sports.

That’s not all. eSports and virtual sports are some of the offers we expect going forward. Players can play Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Dota 2, Rainbow Six, and Valorant. Virtual sports games could include virtual tennis, virtual horse racing, virtual greyhounds, and virtual soccer.

The Pros and Cons of Mobile Sports Betting Apps

The surge of mobile sports betting apps in the U.S. has both benefits and drawbacks. The biggest advantage of mobile sports betting apps is easy access to a wide range of betting sites. Being able to wager from your comfort is another advantage of online betting. Players may also claim promotional offers often unavailable when betting in a retail shop. Another advantage is playing live betting without restrictions. While you play in-play betting in a betting shop, you may have to wait in line. Before it gets to your turn, the odds may have changed. Odds in live betting usually change to reflect the status of the game.

However, a few drawbacks exist to the surge of mobile sports betting apps. First, bettors may end up on sites that don’t prioritize security. Doing your research to ensure your preferred betting site has the required license to operate in your state is recommended. This safeguards you and helps you to claim your winnings without issues.

New and regulated sports betting apps, however, will provide bettors secure platforms for making wagers and keeping up to date with sports.
