In 2013, Disney changed the game by putting new technology into its tourist parks. Guests could keep their room key and theme park ticket on their wrists with MagicBands. You no longer have to dig around in your bag to find your passes.
Disney’s MagicBand has changed over the years, and now there is MagicBand+. With MagicBand+, guests can not only get into their hotel room and the Parks, but they can also buy things, become a Bounty Hunter in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and enjoy fun lights and movements during nighttime shows.
Now, Disney is taking the fun of its bands to the Disney Cruise Line. On April 6, Disney announced the DisneyBand+, a new way to have fun on a Disney Cruise. On DisneyBand+, Disney Parks Blog shared more.
With DisneyBand+, all you have to do is tap your wrist to open your stateroom door, add a sweet treat or gift to your stateroom folio, or charge it to your payment card. And wherever your trip takes you, you can be sure that your DisneyBand+ is ready for anything. Wear it to cool off at the pool, go snorkeling at Disney Castaway Cay, or take a thrilling dive on AquaMouse!
DisneyBand+ lets even the youngest explorers feel the magic. Children who are 3 years old or older can also use their bands instead of the Oceaneer Club Band to get into Disney’s Oceaneer Club onboard and Scuttle’s Cove at Castaway Cay.
For Disney+ lovers who frequent the theme parks but are debating taking their first Disney Cruise, we also have good news: your MagicBand+ will function while sailing! It is crucial to remember that the MagicBand 2.0 and the original MagicBands will not function onboard. Additionally, guests who purchase a DisneyBand+ on a Disney Cruise ship will be able to use the band in Disney theme parks, just like your MagicBand+ would function while you’re onboard.
Disney hasn’t said for sure when DisneyBand+ will be added to the Disney Cruise Line. But they said that the first people to hear the new band will be guests on the Disney Wish.
As the Disney Cruise Line marks its 25th anniversary, DisneyBand+ will be just one of the new things added to the ships. During the Silver Anniversary at Sea, guests on Disney ships will also be able to enjoy special food, fireworks shows, and themed merchandise. Captain Mickey and Captain Minnie will also have brand-new clothes. The best time to book a Disney trip is right now!
