Ukraine possesses biological research facilities, according to US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who added that Washington is working with Ukraine to prevent the facilities from falling into Russian hands.
“We are working with the Ukrainians on how to prevent any of those research materials from falling into the hands of Russian forces should they approach,” Nuland said. “Ukraine has biological research facilities that we are quite concerned Russian troops, Russian forces, may be seeking to gain control of,” Nuland said.
She was responding to a question from Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubo, who wanted to know if Ukraine had chemical or biological weapons.
However, she stated unequivocally that if a biological strike occurs, it will be carried out by Russia. Ms. Nuland was presenting at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “It is apparent that Russia will lose this fight – it is only a matter of time,” he said, adding that Ukraine needed continuous defense support from the United States and its European allies, and that more economic sanctions against Russia could be on the way.

On the other hand, on Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry requested the United States to provide “relevant data as soon as possible” regarding supposed US biological laboratories in Ukraine. “According to US statistics, Ukraine has 26 biological laboratories and other relevant institutions, which has drew a lot of attention,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said during a press briefing in Beijing.
“Under the guise of ‘cooperating to reduce biosecurity concerns and promoting global public health,’ the US Department of Defense oversees 336 biological laboratories in 30 nations throughout the world,” he continued. Zhao continued.
