In the tech world, the anticipation has been building since OpenAI launched their ChatGPT tool last November. Users have been jumping on board at an incredible rate, typically only seen with apps like Threads. And now, exciting news for Android users – OpenAI is ready to launch a ChatGPT app just for you!
You may recall that iOS users were the first to get a free ChatGPT app, allowing them to chat with the bot on their iPhones and iPads. But the wait for Android users is almost over. OpenAI announced on Twitter that the Android version of the ChatGPT app will roll out next week. While they didn’t specify an exact date, they did share a preorder page link on the Google Play Store, where you can sign up to have the app installed as soon as it’s available.

When the iOS version of the ChatGPT app launched back in May, OpenAI promised Android users their version would be available “soon.” Well, folks, “soon” has arrived!
For those who can’t wait a few more days to chat with ChatGPT on an app, Microsoft’s Bing app has been available on both Android and iOS since February. The Bing app uses the Prometheus Model and GPT-4, so you can start chatting right away.
This news comes in the wake of recent data from Sensor Tower and Similarweb that showed a drop in web traffic and app installations for June. Some users even grumbled about GPT-4 becoming “slower and dumber.” In response, OpenAI assured everyone this week that they’re constantly updating the APIs to improve the service. So, stay tuned!
