Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, also known as Big B, has turned 78 on Sunday.
Amitabh has worked in more than 200 films. He was born in Allahabad in 1942 to Teji Bachchan, a social activist, and Harivansh Rai Bachchan, a poet.
The Big B forayed into Bollywood in the 1970s and soon achieved popularity for movies like Zanjeer, Deewaar, and Sholay. Since then he has worked in Hollywood and got engaged in film production.
He also tried his hand at playback singing and narration. Besides, he is a television host (Kaun Banega Crorepati) and also a former politician.
Amitabh’s avatars in the several films continue to inspire looks in Bollywood movies till the date. In the film ‘Paa’, he portrayed a child suffering from progeria. His silver fox look in ‘Shahenshah’ and also his light-up suit in the song Saara Zamana (from his movie Yarana) inspire cinema and pop culture to the date.

On the occasion of Amitabh’s birthday celebration every year, his temple usually carries at home yagya and puja. Devotees of the temple distribute bhog prasad and cut cakes on this day (October 11).
The custom has been intact since the temple was constructed in 2011. But this year it is not seen at the temple due to the Coronavirus situation. The temple built in the name of Big B is located in the Bondel gate near Baliganj of South Kolkata.

As the Bollywood actor celebrates his 78th birthday today, the founders of the temple have organized a virtual meeting in which Big B plans to join these loved ones. This category of its fans has been named the Extended Family by Big B.
This year, temple members are distributing 1,000 masks, 1,000 sanitizer bottles and drought rations to 200 people named after Bachchan.
