Coldplay Announces UK Stadium Tour with Exciting New Twists

coldplay uk stadium tour exciting twists

Coldplay has thrilled fans by announcing a series of eight massive stadium shows set to take place in the UK next year, specifically in London and Hull. These performances will be their only live shows in both the UK and Europe for 2025. The announcement comes on the heels of their recent 2024 European tour, which was in support of their critically acclaimed album Music of the Spheres. Now, the band is gearing up for an even bigger and more exciting 2025 tour, aligned with the release of their highly anticipated 10th studio album, Moon Music, which is set to drop on 4 October 2024.

A Landmark Performance in Hull

One of the most exciting aspects of Coldplay’s announcement is their decision to perform in Hull for the first time ever, marking a significant moment for both the band and local fans. This new tour will see Coldplay performing in the UK’s capital, London, as well as at Hull’s Craven Park Stadium, a venue that has never hosted the band before.

Coldplay has always had a reputation for breaking new ground, and their Hull performances are no exception. In a unique and inclusive move, the band announced that 50% of the tickets for these Hull shows will be reserved for local residents with postcodes HU, YO, DN, and LN. This decision was designed to give local fans in Hull and nearby areas a better chance to experience one of the world’s biggest bands live. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster and See Tickets, with the sale starting at 9 am on Friday, 27 September.

To reward their most loyal fans, Coldplay will also offer a special pre-sale for those who pre-order their upcoming album Moon Music from the official Coldplay UK or EU stores. Fans who have already pre-ordered the album will automatically be eligible for this pre-sale, which begins at 9 am on Thursday, 26 September. This thoughtful gesture ensures that Coldplay’s die-hard supporters will have the first opportunity to secure their spots at these landmark shows.

Supporting Grassroots Music Venues: Coldplay’s Generous Donation to the Music Venue Trust

In an industry-shaking move, Coldplay has committed to donating 10% of the band’s proceeds from these shows to the Music Venue Trust, a UK-based charitable organization that supports grassroots music venues. These smaller venues have faced immense challenges in recent years, and Coldplay’s contribution aims to support their continued existence and foster the development of emerging artists.

Coldplay has a long-standing connection to grassroots music venues, having started their journey in similar settings before achieving global stardom. Their first-ever live performance took place at the Dublin Castle in Camden, London, back in February 1998. To celebrate this partnership with the Music Venue Trust, Coldplay made the announcement by placing a special poster in the window of the Dublin Castle, paying homage to their beginnings.

The Music Venue Trust’s CEO, Mark Davyd, expressed immense gratitude for Coldplay’s support, stating:

“Coldplay are the perfect example of a UK band who came through the grassroots circuit on their way to worldwide stadium-filling success. It’s fantastic to see them celebrating their own pathway to Wembley by giving back to the grassroots music venues that supported them and recognizing the artists and promoters that are struggling more than ever to build their own careers.”

The 10% donation will go directly towards preserving these venues and helping emerging artists thrive, ensuring that the UK’s music scene remains vibrant and accessible for future generations. In addition to Coldplay’s contribution, concert promoters SJM Concerts, Metropolis Music, and Live Nation, along with the band’s booking agent WME, the venues Wembley Stadium and Hull Craven Park, and official ticket agents Ticketmaster, See Tickets, and AXS, will also donate a portion of their profits from the shows to the Music Venue Trust.

Mark Davyd added:

“This support from Coldplay will stop venues from closing, make tours happen, and bring the joy of live music to thousands of people. After months of discussing Coldplay’s potential support around these UK shows with them, we’re so happy and grateful that the news is finally out there!”

Coldplay’s Continued Commitment to Sustainability

Coldplay has long been vocal about their dedication to sustainability, and the band is once again setting an example with their upcoming shows. In a world-first initiative for stadium performances, Coldplay has committed to powering their 2025 shows at Wembley Stadium with 100% renewable energy. This includes solar, wind, and kinetic energy, which will be collected both at the venue and from other parts of the UK, and stored in a specially designed electric battery system.

The band’s sustainability efforts have been a key feature of their tours in recent years. During their 2024 Music of the Spheres tour, Coldplay was able to reduce their carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions by an impressive 59% compared to their previous stadium tour, which took place between 2016 and 2017. The band’s efforts to reduce their environmental impact also extend to reforestation. They have planted nine million trees so far, and they plan to plant an additional one million trees by the end of this year.

Coldplay’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop with their live shows. The band is also taking steps to make their physical music products more eco-friendly. Physical copies of their upcoming album Moon Music will be made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, an innovative approach that reduces the environmental impact of producing music.

This pledge for a greener future shows that Coldplay is not only using their platform to entertain but also to inspire positive environmental change. The band’s fans, known for their strong support of the group’s sustainability efforts, are likely to welcome this initiative, which further cements Coldplay’s place as a leading voice in the music industry’s movement toward greater environmental responsibility.

Coldplay’s Path to Global Stardom and Their Impact on Music

Coldplay’s rise to fame has been nothing short of remarkable. The band, which consists of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion, first came together in London in 1996. They built their career from the ground up, performing at small venues across the UK before gaining international recognition with their hit single “Yellow” from their debut album Parachutes.

Over the years, Coldplay has evolved their sound and remained one of the most influential and successful bands in the world. Known for their emotional lyrics, soaring melodies, and captivating live performances, Coldplay has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and won numerous awards, including seven Grammy Awards and nine Brit Awards.

The band’s willingness to experiment with different musical styles while maintaining a strong connection to their fans has helped them remain relevant in an ever-changing music landscape. With their latest album Moon Music on the horizon and another round of stadium shows planned for 2025, Coldplay shows no signs of slowing down.

A Promising Year for Coldplay and Their Fans

With the announcement of their 2025 stadium shows in London and Hull, Coldplay continues to demonstrate their unwavering commitment to their fans, their music, and the world around them. Whether through their support of grassroots venues, their efforts to reduce their environmental impact, or their dedication to creating unforgettable live performances, Coldplay is setting the standard for what it means to be a modern band in the 21st century.

Fans across the UK and Europe will have the rare opportunity to see Coldplay live next year, and with Moon Music set to release soon, excitement is building for what promises to be another remarkable chapter in the band’s already legendary career.
