A paparazzo has made an allegation that he was assaulted by Taylor Swift’s father, and Australian police are investigating the incident.
Ben McDonald, aged 51, claimed that Scott Swift, aged 71, hit him in the face on a Sydney wharf. He was fine without needing any medical assistance.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Mr. Swift and the popular singer got off a yacht.
According to local media reports, a spokesperson for the singer did not respond to the assault claim but mentioned that two individuals had acted aggressively towards them.
An Australian media outlet shared a video of the singer walking with her father and security guards along Neutral Bay Wharf around 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT Monday) while being shielded by an umbrella.
Cameras are flashing as two individuals, said to be a photographer and a guard, are pointing fingers at each other for touching umbrellas. The footage’s ability to capture the alleged incident remains uncertain.
According to Mr McDonald, the singer had already gotten into a car when Mr Swift suddenly rushed in and attacked him.
“I’ve been at this for 23 years and I’ve never been in a situation where someone has hit me in the face,” he mentioned, clarifying that he did not provoke the incident.
According to the singer’s representative, two individuals were forcefully moving towards Taylor Swift, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.
Swift had recently concluded the last Australian show in her highly successful Eras tour.
“The incident was reported by a younger man, and investigations are currently being conducted by officers from North Shore Police Area Command,” according to a statement from New South Wales Police.
