Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka were all removed from Singapore’s travel restrictions list.
Travelers would, however, still be forced to undergo quarantine at a designated facility upon entering the nation.
From October 26, any travelers with a 14-day prior travel history to Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka would be able to enter and transit via Singapore. Category IV border measures will apply to these travelers, media report.
All travelers with a 14-day travel history to these countries will not be allowed to enter or transit via Singapore, Singapore has previously announced. Officials say the new step is the result of an assessment of the Covid-19 situation in these nations.
Arrivals from these six countries will now be assigned to Category IV, requiring them to serve a 10-day stay-home notice (SHN) in designated SHN facilities. This 10-day stay will set you back S$1,450 per person.
“The situation in these countries has stabilized for some time, and there is no longer a need for a strict ‘not-to-land’ rule,” Singapore Health Minister Ong Ye Kung told a press conference held by the multi-ministerial group on Covid-19 on Saturday (October 23).
Many other modifications to nation classifications and streamlined travel regulations were also revealed, all of which take effect at 11:59 p.m. on October 26.
Several countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia, Singapore’s two nearest neighbors, have been upgraded to Category III from Category IV. Cambodia, Egypt, Hungary, Israel, Mongolia, Qatar, Rwanda, Samoa, Seychelles, South Africa, Tonga, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam are the other countries on the list.
After arrival in Singapore, all travelers will be required to take only one polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
