In a post-finale interview with Extra, Michelle Randolph shared her reaction to the script that revealed Jack’s tragic death.
“I was shocked. I had to reread it a few times, like, ‘That’s it? Does he come back to life?’ There’s no relief, it’s just devastating all around,” she said.
Jack’s death marked a turning point for Elizabeth, who is pregnant with his child. The loss not only shook her character but also deeply affected fans who had grown attached to the young couple.
Elizabeth Dutton’s Next Chapter
After losing Jack and enduring a violent shootout in the finale, Elizabeth is no longer the same woman who first arrived at the ranch. Randolph believes her character has truly evolved and is ready for a big life change.
“She’s an entirely different person. She’s a Dutton now. She’s going to the East Coast, but she’s not far away,” Randolph explained.
Randolph added that Elizabeth is now focused on becoming a mother and learning how to raise her child without her husband.

Following the finale, Randolph took to Instagram to express her gratitude to fans of the show.
“Overflowing with gratitude. Thank you for watching, for feeling with us, and for loving 1923 the way we do,” she wrote. The post included a touching photo of her with co-star Helen Mirren.

Randolph also opened up about her experience working with Helen Mirren, who plays Cara Dutton.
“Watching her find those moments in scenes from take to take… I hope I get to work with Helen again,” she said.
She described Mirren as someone who truly loves acting and enjoys every moment on set.
“She just really genuinely loves what she does and loves being around the crew. I found that so inspiring.”
What’s Next for the Yellowstone Universe?
While 1923 has come to an end, the story of the Dutton family will continue in the upcoming spinoff titled 1944. The new series is expected to follow the next generation of the Duttons during World War II.
Michelle Randolph has not confirmed whether she will return for 1944, but she has said she would love to come back if given the chance.
