How Can Keto Diet Transform Your Body?

In pursuit of a slim body, people are ready to try a variety of diet plans, including those that are not always safe. If you want to adopt a new diet plan, you should check its impact on your body first and this holds true for keto diet plans as well. The ketogenic or keto diet is not a new weight-loss trend. Often called Ketone, Low-carb, Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) diet, it was known as the Atkins diet 30 years ago because it was he who developed the idea of a low-carb diet; a diet plan that consists of almost 70% of animal fats.

Have you ever wondered How Does the Keto diet work? Well, it starts when the person consumes a minimum of carbohydrates, a balanced amount of protein, and a considerably high amount of fat. By following this diet plan, dieters lose weight due to ketosis – a particular state of the body when it breaks down its fat for energy. Our bodies primarily use carbohydrates as our primary source of energy but when carbohydrate intake is restricted, the body releases less insulin to utilize glucose and enters a state of catabolism.

State of Catabolism

Catabolism is a metabolic process in which large molecules such as fats and proteins are broken down into smaller ones so the body can use them for energy, heat, or to create new molecules. The body breaks down its fat reserves in the absence of carbohydrates, and ketone bodies are formed from fats. This process is called Ketogenesis and leads to a state of ketosis.

What is Ketosis?

An almost complete absence of carbohydrates in food and the resulting carbohydrate starvation of cells leads to ketosis. A person adopts a carbohydrate-free diet, and the body needs to find a source of energy because carbohydrates are no longer supplied.

Signs of Ketosis

The main sign of ketosis is that people have the smell of acetone from the mouth, sweat, and urine. It is necessary to drink water (at least 2 liters). This is necessary, so that ketone bodies are excreted through the kidneys in the urine. The essence of the Keto diet is to reduce the number of carbohydrates and force the body to break down fat. Ketosis helps quick weight loss: it breaks down fats and reduces appetite and the amount of water retained in the body. One gram of carbohydrates retains four times more fluid in the body than protein.

Ketosis is the restructuring of metabolism to obtain energy from ketone bodies: acetone, acetoacetate, and beta-hydroxybutyric acid. These substances are formed in the liver from the fatty tissues of the body and consumed fats; they can nourish the body instead of glucose. The body gets energy from ketones until carbohydrates return to the diet.

Keto diet plans force the human body to enter into ketosis – a state in which the body begins to break down its fats and form a large number of ketone bodies. When this process begins, fats begin to break down quickly; fat mass quickly leaves, muscle mass remains, and, the body transforms itself.
