Movies Coming Out in October 2026: My Streaming Watchlist

October is usually one of my favorite months for movies. Horror gets most of the attention, but the month often has much more to offer. This year, I found crime stories, action movies, true stories, documentaries, and several major series alongside the usual Halloween releases.

After preparing my list of movies coming out in September 2026, I wanted to approach October in the same practical way. I did not want to make a huge list filled with old library titles. I wanted to find the releases that I may actually watch.

My viewing habits are not limited to one genre. My recent list of global movies I watched in one week included romance, crime, drama, and psychological horror. My October list has a similar mix.

It includes new streaming movies, films arriving after their theater runs, and a few series that look too interesting to ignore. These are previews based on the available details. They are not reviews of movies or shows I have not watched.

Release note: The dates mainly follow U.S. and global streaming schedules. Some platforms are not directly available in Bangladesh. A title may also arrive on a different service in South Asia. I always check my local app before planning a movie night.

Horror Movies I Want to Watch in October

October without horror would feel strange. This year, Shudder has the deepest horror lineup, but HBO Max, Prime Video, Peacock, and Tubi also have strong choices.

I enjoy horror that has a strong setting or a clear cultural identity. Our list of the scariest Indonesian horror movies is a good example. Those films use family history, faith, folklore, and local fears instead of depending only on jump scares.

October’s new releases cover several different styles, from found footage to post-apocalyptic survival.

Evil Dead Burn: Streaming on HBO Max: October 2

The Evil Dead series has never been gentle. That is part of its appeal. Evil Dead Burn makes its global streaming debut on HBO Max at the start of the month. This is one I would save for a late-night watch. I do not expect a quiet ghost story. I expect blood, panic, and people making terrible choices under pressure.

Infirmary: Streaming on Shudder: October 2

The infirmary uses body-camera footage from an old psychiatric hospital. A guard disappears during his first night at the building, and the footage may explain what happened.

Found-footage horror does not always work for me. Too much camera movement can become tiring. However, the hospital setting gives this film a simple and creepy starting point.

V/H/S/Mixtape: Streaming on Shudder: October 9

The V/H/S films can be uneven, but that is also part of the fun. Each section offers a different filmmaker and a different kind of fear. V/H/S/Mixtape connects its horror stories through music and sound. That idea caught my attention. Sound can make a simple scene frightening before anything appears on screen.

Hallowarrior: Streaming on Shudder: October 16

This one follows Pumpkin, the last girl left after a plague ends most of human life. Her lonely Halloween is broken when violent raiders arrive.

I have always enjoyed stories about people trying to survive after the familiar world has disappeared. Readers who like that type of setting may also enjoy our list of the best post-apocalyptic movies.

The mix of Halloween horror and a survival story makes Hallowarrior one of my main Shudder choices.

The Cycle: Streaming on Shudder: October 23

Police find a body beside a disturbing crime scene. Their main lead is the victim’s estranged daughter. She must uncover the secret her father tried to hide. This sounds closer to a dark mystery than a simple slasher film. That makes it one of my stronger Shudder picks.

Big Baby: Streaming on Shudder: October 30

A horror writer begins dreaming about a killer wearing a baby mask. He later discovers that the murders may not exist only in his imagination. The baby mask could look silly or deeply disturbing. I am curious to find out which direction the film takes.

Free October 2026 Movies on Tubi

Tubi is useful when I want to watch something without adding another monthly subscription. My guide to Tubi free movies explains how the service works and whether the ads are worth accepting.

The platform has three original releases that caught my attention this October.

• R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2 arrives on October 9. It follows two young people trying to stop a new curse from destroying their town.
• Psycho Side Chick follows on October 16. It tells the story of a woman who refuses to accept the end of her relationship with a married man.
• One Night Stand arrives on October 30. A married man sleeps with a dangerous woman and must then protect his family from her.

Of these three, I would begin with R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead 2. It sounds like the easiest Halloween-night choice.

Action and Thriller Movies on My List on October 2026

October also has several large action movies and thrillers. Three of the biggest releases arrive on the same day.

Animals: Streaming on Netflix: October 9

Ben Affleck directs and stars in Animals. He plays a Los Angeles mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped. He and his wife must find the ransom while dealing with secrets and difficult choices.

Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, and Ray Fisher are also in the cast. I enjoy thrillers where one crime starts breaking apart a family’s public image. This is my main Netflix movie for October.

Disclosure Day: Streaming on Peacock: October 9

Steven Spielberg returns to stories about life beyond Earth with Disclosure Day. Spielberg and alien stories already have a long history, but they have not always had the same tone.

That makes this film hard to predict. It may offer wonder, fear, or both. It is easily one of the month’s biggest movie releases.

Matchbox: The Movie: Streaming on Apple TV: October 9

A movie based on Matchbox toy cars could have been a simple brand project. The cast makes it more interesting.

John Cena plays a former leader of a childhood friend group who returns as an undercover CIA agent. His arrival pulls his old friends into an international chase. Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, and Danai Gurira also appear.

I will not expect a deep story here. I will watch it for fast action and an easy Friday-night experience.

Sacrifice: Streaming on Netflix: October 16

Chris Evans plays a movie star who is kidnapped during an event filled with rich and famous people. Anya Taylor-Joy plays the leader of a group that believes three people must be sacrificed to save the world.

The idea sounds strange, but in a good way. I am interested in seeing whether the film can balance its dark subject with sharp humor.

The Death of Robin Hood: Streaming on HBO Max: October 16

This is not expected to be a bright Robin Hood adventure. Hugh Jackman plays an older and badly injured version of the famous outlaw. Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, and Murray Bartlett join him.

I have seen many versions of Robin Hood. A darker story about age, violence, and regret feels different enough to earn a place on my list.

The Invite: Streaming on HBO Max: October 23

Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton lead The Invite. The cast alone makes the film worth watching.

I am keeping my expectations open. Sometimes, a strong group of actors can turn a simple setup into something memorable.

Drama and True Stories for a Quieter Night in October 2026

Not every October night needs blood or an explosion. I also found several films for slower evenings.

Tyler Perry’s Doing Life: Streaming on Netflix: October 2

A struggling single mother meets a former prisoner with a hidden talent. Their lives create an unexpected chance to start again. The story sounds direct and emotional. I would watch this when I want something more hopeful than October’s horror choices.

Tenzing: Streaming on Apple TV: October 16

Tenzing tells the story of Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary’s climb to the top of Mount Everest. Genden Phuntsok plays Tenzing, while Tom Hiddleston plays Hillary. Willem Dafoe also appears as John Hunt.

As a South Asian viewer, Tenzing’s side of this history interests me more than another simple story about conquering a mountain. I hope the film gives proper space to his life, faith, skill, and family.

Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald: Streaming on Netflix: October 16

This documentary looks at the life and work of Norm Macdonald. His comedy was dry, unexpected, and often built around saying less. I enjoy documentaries that help me understand the person behind familiar work. This could be a good break between the month’s heavier movies.

SCTV: The Greatest Show You’ve Never Heard Of: Streaming on Netflix: October 30

This documentary looks back at the Canadian sketch comedy series SCTV. The original show helped shape the careers of several major comedy performers. The title admits that many viewers may not know the program well. That includes me, which is exactly why I may watch it.

The October 2026 TV Series I Cannot Ignore

My main goal was to find movies coming out in October 2026, but the series calendar is too strong to leave out.

War begins on HBO Max on October 1. Sienna Miller and Dominic West lead a legal drama about a very public divorce. I enjoy courtroom stories when the personal conflict matters as much as the law.

Prime Video’s Carrie arrives on October 7. Mike Flanagan turns Stephen King’s novel into an eight-episode series. A longer format may give Carrie White more room to become a real person before the horror takes over.

Marvel’s VisionQuest reaches Disney+ on October 14. Paul Bettany returns as Vision, while James Spader returns as Ultron. I am more interested in Vision’s search for identity than another large superhero battle.

Tulsa King returns for Season 4 on Paramount+ on October 16. Chris Pratt’s The Terminal List follows on Prime Video on October 21. Both should work for viewers who want crime, revenge, and action.

Apple TV ends the month with Nocturne on October 30. Liev Schreiber plays a homicide detective hunted by a clever serial killer. Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham are also part of the cast. This may be the new series I am most interested in watching.

The same day brings Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 on Paramount+. Releasing it one day before Halloween is an easy choice, but it is also a good one.

What I Will Watch First in October 2026

My first four choices are Animals, Tenzing, Evil Dead Burn, and Disclosure Day. They give me four very different evenings: a crime thriller, a true adventure, a horror film, and a science-fiction story.

For series, I will begin with Carrie and Nocturne. If I want something lighter, I will try Small Prophets or Matchbox: The Movie.

The returning shows create another problem. Anyone planning to watch Tulsa King Season 4, The Terminal List Season 2, Lupin Part 4, or Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 may need to finish the earlier episodes first. A few missed seasons can quickly turn into dozens of hours.
