Most Anticipated SUVs

As the automotive market heats up, enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of several highly anticipated SUVs. This year promises a diverse lineup of vehicles, ranging from rugged off-roaders to sleek urban machines and even coupe SUVs.

With advancements in design, technology, and performance, these upcoming SUVs are set to redefine the driving experience. Whether you’re an adventure seeker or a city driver, the new models offer something for everyone.

Here, we highlight five upcoming SUVs that are generating buzz and are definitely worth the wait.

1. Mahindra Thar 5-door

The Mahindra Thar 5-door, also known as the Thar Armada, is set to make its global debut in August this year. Building on the success of the popular 3-door Thar, this new version will be longer and more versatile, targeting the likes of the Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

The 5-door Thar will retain its rugged design, enhanced with updated elements such as new bumpers, headlamps, LED rear lights, and a bulkier front grille. It will offer three engine options: a 1.5-liter diesel engine (117 bhp, 300 Nm), a 2.2-liter diesel engine (130 bhp), and a 2.0-liter petrol engine (150 bhp). The Thar 5-door is expected to have manual and automatic transmission options, ensuring a versatile and powerful driving experience.

2. Tata Curvv

Tata Motors is set to make a splash in the mid-size SUV segment by introducing the Tata Curvv. This coupe SUV is designed to take on competitors like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

The Curvv features a distinctive swooping roofline, split headlamp design, and a prominent honeycomb front fascia. With 18-inch alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof, it promises to stand out on the road.

Inside, the Curvv offers a futuristic cabin with a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system. The engine options include a 125 bhp 1.5-liter turbo-petrol and a 1.5-liter diesel engine (114 bhp, 260 Nm) paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Curvv could also come equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), making it a highly anticipated release.

3. Kia Clavis

Kia is working on a new SUV, the Clavis, with a traditional boxy shape and state-of-the-art technology. Based on spy images, the Clavis will come with advanced safety features such as ADAS, six airbags, and ABS.

The cabin is expected to have a twin 10.25-inch infotainment system and driver’s console, front-ventilated seats, a premium music system, traction control, and multiple drive modes.

Although there isn’t official confirmation on the Clavis’ powertrains, it is likely to share engines with the Kia Sonet, including the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol, 1.0-liter turbo petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel engines. The Clavis aims to offer a blend of practicality, technology, and style, making it a compelling option for SUV enthusiasts.

4. Citroen Basalt

Following the footsteps of the Tata Curvv, Citroen is set to introduce the Basalt, another coupe SUV. Based on the common modular platform (CMP) architecture like the C3 hatchback and the C3 Aircross SUV, the Basalt combines a sloping roofline with Citroen’s signature front fascia design.

It features an aggressive front grille and is expected to be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine producing 109 bhp and 190 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The automatic variant will offer a torque output of 205 Nm. The Basalt’s unique design and powerful engine options make it an exciting addition to the SUV market.

5. Renault Duster

The iconic Renault Duster is returning in India with two versions: a 5-seater and a 7-seater. Known for its muscular and upright design, the new Duster features Y-shaped LED DRLs, LED tail lamps, and a prominent front grille.

Inside, it will be packed with features like a 10.1-inch floating infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a new gear dial. The Duster is expected to come with ADAS features, enhancing its appeal.

The international model offers three engine options: a 1.6-liter petrol hybrid, a 1.2-liter petrol hybrid, and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol with LPG compatibility. The new Duster aims to reclaim its position as a favorite in the mid-size SUV segment, combining modern features with a robust design.

Summary

The upcoming SUV market is heating up, with a variety of new models set to hit the roads soon. From the rugged Mahindra Thar 5-door to the stylish Tata Curvv and the tech-savvy Kia Clavis, there is something for every SUV enthusiast.

Citroen’s Basalt promises a unique design, while the return of the Renault Duster is sure to excite many. These SUVs are worth the wait, offering a blend of innovation, performance, and style that cater to diverse preferences and needs.
