Facebook will pay content creators and musicians up to $50,000 to host sessions in the brand new Live Audio Rooms feature, according to recent reports.
The individual content producer will be compensated between $10,000 and $50,000 for each session, with an extra cost of $10,000 or more for guests. Production businesses working for Meta have been reaching out to social media personalities with this special offer in recent weeks. Each creator is required to present four to six sessions, each with a minimum of 30 minutes of airtime, according to the contract.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, claimed in July that the company would pay content producers upwards of $1 billion by the end of 2022.
Facebook Live Audio Rooms was launched in the United States in June, and sources claim that the promotion is aimed at competing with Clubhouse, an audio chat app. Live Audio Rooms can currently handle up to 50 speakers at once, with infinite listeners able to tune in at any moment.
Only a few podcasts will be available in the United States, and hosts will have the option of supporting nonprofit or fundraising groups during the session. When the podcast is live, both listeners and speakers will be able to give to these causes.
In a direct attempt to outdo TikTok, the other Meta-owned company, Instagram, has started paying online superstars up to $35,000 to include Instagram Reels. Meta has been ramping up in the social media battle, considering TikTok’s Creator Fund and Twitter’s sponsored accelerator program for its audio feature Spaces.
