6 Things You Need to Know About Your Chubby Cat

Cats are adorable creatures. They’re also quite independent, stubborn, and sometimes downright mean. So if you’ve got a cat, you know that there’s always a chance that they’ll get into trouble.

But did you know that cats can also be chubby? And that they can even become obese? If you want to keep your cat healthy and happy, then you need to know these facts. So here are 6 things you should know about your chubby cat.

1) Cats Can Be Obese Too!

Obesity is one of the most common health problems in dogs. But it’s not just for them — obesity affects people too. In fact, more than half of all adults in America have been diagnosed with some form of overweight or obesity.

And while many people think that being fat means having extra pounds on their body, this isn’t true at all. Obesity actually refers to when an animal has excess weight around its waistline. This includes both humans and animals.

In order to determine whether or not your pet is obese, look at his/her belly area. If you notice any bulges, lumps, or bumps, he may very well be carrying around a few extra pounds. Remember to have a large litter box for your cats, not having a proper litterbox for larger cats can cause many problems including them not using the litter box at all.

2) The Causes Of Being Overweight Are Similar For Humans & Animals

The causes of being overweight aren’t really different between us and our furry friends. It comes down to two main factors: genetics and environment.

Genetics plays a big role because we inherit certain traits from our parents. These include genes that control how much food we eat, what kind of exercise we do, and other aspects of our lifestyle.

On top of that, environmental influences like diet and activity levels play a huge part as well. Because of this, it’s important to make sure that your pets receive proper nutrition and plenty of physical activity.

3) There Is A Difference Between Fatness And Muscle Mass

When talking about obesity, it’s easy to assume that every single pound of fat equals another pound of muscle mass. However, this isn’t entirely accurate.

While muscles burn calories during intense workouts, fat doesn’t. That’s why it makes sense that someone who exercises regularly will lose weight but still retain lots of lean muscle tissue.

However, this isn’t necessarily the case with cats. While they certainly don’t work out nearly as hard as dogs, they still require energy.

This is where the difference lies. When it comes to feline metabolism, fat stores up inside cells instead of burning off through exercise. As such, cats tend to gain weight over time without working out.

4) Exercise Helps Keep Weight Down

As mentioned above, exercising helps reduce weight by helping your body break down stored fats. But it goes beyond simply losing weight. Exercising also improves overall fitness, which leads to better heart function and less risk of developing diseases later in life.

5) Diet Matters Just As Much As Activity Levels

Just because your cat is getting enough exercise doesn’t mean that she won’t benefit from eating right. After all, her body needs fuel to perform properly.

This is especially true for older cats. Since they often experience age-related changes in their bodies, including decreased mobility and vision, they need special attention.

That’s why it’s so important to feed your cat high quality foods that provide essential nutrients. Not only does this help ensure that your kitty stays active and energetic throughout her lifetime, but it also keeps her healthier longer.

6) Don’t Let Furry Friends Make Fun Of Your Pet

It might seem silly, but making fun of your cat behind his back could lead him to develop bad habits. Like overeating. Or hiding under furniture.
