The day that every football fan in the world has been waiting for has finally arrived. Today, the World Champion of FOOTBALL will be CROWNED. Will Argentina win their third World Cup under Lionel Messi? Will France, led by Kylian Mbappes, defend their World Cup title?
Here are three of the most important matches that could have a big impact on the outcome:
Lionel Messi vs Aurelien Tchouameni
The match between Messi and Tchouameni, who is a rising star holding midfielder for France, will be one of the most anticipated. Paris St. Germain and Monaco played against each other in the French league in the 2021–22 season.
Messi beat Tchouameni in that game, which PSG won 2-0. Messi also set up one of Mbappe’s two goals. But Tchouameni, who is 22 years old, has been great since he joined Real Madrid in August. He replaced Casemiro right away and is now considered one of the best box-to-box midfielders.
On Sunday, his job to slow down Messi should be very important for France to win.

Kylian Mbappe vs Nahuel Molina
Mbappe could be the best player at the World Cup because he led France to their second straight final. The 23-year-old forward has scored five goals in six games, which is more than he did at the 2018 World Cup. He now has nine goals in 13 games between the two World Cups.
Morocco’s defenders Achraf Dari and Achraf Hakimi struggled to match Mbappe’s speed and skill. They tried in vain to stop him from getting down France’s left channel in the semi-final. Now, Molina, the right back for Argentina, will have to keep an eye on Mbappe.
Molina was criticized before the World Cup because he didn’t do well in his first season with Atletico Madrid, but he has been solid and has started every game. The possible matchup could cause coach Lionel Scaloni to use a three-man defense, as he did against the Netherlands in the quarterfinal, to help Molina.
That would likely put Mbappe against Tottenham’s center-back Cristian Romero.

Enzo Fernandez vs Antoine Griezmann
Griezmann’s hard work and skill at both ends of the field have drawn attention, and his role as a floating midfielder has become one of the most interesting stories of the World Cup so far. Kylian Mbappe could win the Golden Boot, but Antoine Griezmann has been the key to France’s success in the tournament. He has created a lot of chances and also gotten back to stopping play when he has to.
As a box-to-box midfielder, rising star Enzo Fernandez plays a similar role for Argentina. He hadn’t even made his debut six months ago, but now he’s an important part of Scaloni’s system. Both are the most important players in the middle of the field for their teams, so the one who wins could set the pace for what should be a close game on Sunday.
