Who Was Jemell M. Nelson?

Jemell M. Nelson was a person from New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to the University of New Orleans and studied Pre-Med Biology. Before that, he finished school at Lusher Charter School.

His life ended too soon when he was 31 years old on November 14, 2022. The cause was very sad; he died because of multiple gunshot wounds.

His family misses him a lot. He left behind his great-grandmother Una Barnes, his mother Constanza Porche, his father Michael Nelson, and his siblings – brother Shelton Magee III and sisters Zhane’ Nelson and Zaria Nelson.

They all remember him and feel his absence deeply.

His Role in Queer Eye and Contributions

He worked as a production assistant for “Queer Eye” Season 7. This role put him behind the scenes of the reality makeover show. His job was to help make everything run smoothly on set.

He joined during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. This was his first step into entertainment. Even with little experience, he made big contributions to the show’s success.

Before this, he also helped on “Love & Marriage: Huntsville Season 3.” There, he had two jobs. First, as a production assistant and then as a COVID-19 Compliance Officer. These roles showed his ability to handle different tasks well.

They prepared him for his work on “Queer Eye.

Honoring Jemell M. Nelson in Season 7

Season 7 of “Queer Eye” paid tribute to Jemell M. Nelson. Before the seventh episode ended, viewers saw a card. It read, “In Memory of Jemell M. Nelson.” This moment honored his life and work on the reality makeover show.

Jemell’s family and friends said goodbye in New Orleans. They gathered at The Franklin Avenue Baptist Church on December 2, 2022. Then, they laid him to rest in The Garden of Memories Cemetery.

People remembered him online too. One post said, “I called you my little brother…” Another read, “Keep watching over me baby.” These words showed how much he meant to them.
