Apple recently launched its new Apple Sports app, aimed at providing real-time scores, stats, and other data to tap into the huge market of sports enthusiasts.
The free app offers “play-by-play information, team stats, lineup details, and live betting odds” for several major sports leagues like the NBA, NHL, and La Liga soccer. It also integrates with Apple TV and other streaming services, so users can easily tune into live games.
While not revolutionary, Apple Sports consolidates sports data into one slick interface. By partnering with major leagues like the MLS, where Apple has a 10-year exclusive deal, the tech giant is clearly betting big on sports content.
With over half of American adults identifying as sports fans, Apple aims to score points with its core demographic. The app may not replace ESPN just yet, but it certainly makes following your home teams a little simpler.
And with Apple’s giant install base of over 1 billion active iPhone users worldwide, Apple Sports could become a formidable player in the sports media landscape. Diehard fans rejoice.
