Kansas City Chiefs superstars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have stepped up to support the families impacted by last week’s tragic shooting at the team’s Super Bowl celebration parade.
Kelce personally donated $100,000 to the family of two young girls, ages 8 and 10, who were shot in the legs and remain hospitalized. The donation through his Eighty-Seven & Running charity matched the family’s GoFundMe goal.
“We are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and prayers during this difficult time,” said the girls’ family in a statement. “While we are relieved by their progress, the emotional healing continues for all of us.”
Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, also visited the girls in the hospital earlier this week. “My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected,” Kelce wrote on social media.
In addition, Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, donated $100,000 to the family of shooting victim Lisa Lopez-Galvan, who was killed at the parade. Over 1,000 others have combined to donate more than $73,000 across multiple fundraisers set up to aid the victims.
While the long road to recovery continues, the Chiefs organization and stars have stepped up to surround the impacted families with support during this tragic time.
