According to a corporate statement released on Wednesday, Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), the largest renewable energy (RE) firm in India and among the top five in the world, has exceeded 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational portfolio.
It provides the national grid with clean, affordable, and dependable power.
More than 5.8 million homes will be powered by AGEL’s 10,934 MW operational portfolio, which will also prevent almost 21 million tons of CO2 emissions yearly.
In a statement, the company stated that AGEL is establishing a standard for how clean energy transition and gigascale decarbonization can be fueled by cutting-edge technology, execution skills, digitization, a strong supply chain network, and long-term infrastructure financing paired with sustainable practices.
“As the first das hazari in the renewables space in India, we are proud,” Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, stated.
Adani Green Energy went from being only a concept to investigate clean energy to achieving an incredible 10,000 MW in installed capacity in less than ten years. In that time, the company has not only imagined but also actualized a greener future.
This accomplishment demonstrates the speed and scope with which the Adani Group hopes to speed up India’s shift to inexpensive, clean energy. In Khavda, we are constructing the largest renewable energy plant in the world, a 30,000 MW project unmatched on a worldwide scale, as part of our quest to reach 45,000 MW by 2030. “AGEL is not only establishing global standards, but also redefining them,” he continued.
The statement went on to say that AGEL is pursuing sustainable practices throughout its activities in keeping with its commitment to improve natural and social capital.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, water stewardship, waste management and a circular economy, biodiversity management, and climate action are all in line with AGEL’s unwavering focus on energizing a sustainable future for everyone.
The operational portfolio of AGEL has received certifications for being “water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity,” “zero waste-to-landfill,” and “single-use plastic free.”
“On arid land in Khavda, Kutch, Gujarat, AGL is building the largest renewable energy project in the world, 30,000 MW in capacity. It is nearly as big as Mumbai City and five times larger than Paris, spanning 538 square kilometers. Within a year of starting work, AGEL had operationalized 2,000 MW of cumulative solar capacity, or more than 6% of the 30,000 MW planned capacity.
The statement went on, “Work at Khavda is moving quickly as AGEL makes use of Adani Infra’s project execution skills, Adani New Industries Limited’s manufacturing know-how, Adani Infrastructure Management Services Ltd.’s operational excellence, and our strategic partners’ strong supply chain.
