In a heartfelt announcement, 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal revealed that he will retire from professional tennis at the age of 38. Nadal, who has been one of the greatest athletes of his era, shared the news via a video message on Thursday, marking the end of a career that has defined tennis for nearly two decades.

Known for his tenacity and incredible skill, Nadal’s legacy in tennis is unparalleled, with his achievements shaping an era that he shared with rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Nadal’s decision to retire comes after two seasons plagued by injuries. Despite his legendary determination, the Spaniard has competed sparingly since undergoing hip surgery in 2023. He participated in just two of the past eight major tournaments, struggling with physical limitations.

Reflecting on the difficulties of the past few years, Nadal admitted, “It has been some difficult years, these last two, especially. I don’t think I have been able to play without limitations.”
