Bangladeshi Babar Ali Conquers Mount Everest

Md Babar Ali from Bangladesh has successfully conquered Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. His remarkable achievement adds him to the list of distinguished Bangladeshi mountaineers who have scaled the summit.

Early Journey and Preparations

Babar Ali began his ambitious journey on April 1. After necessary preparations in Kathmandu on April 4, he flew to Lukla Airport, known as one of the most dangerous airports in the world. From Lukla, he embarked on his challenging trek towards Everest Base Camp, reaching there on April 10.

Acclimatization and Summit Push

To acclimatize to the extreme conditions, Babar ascended to Everest Camp II on April 26 before returning to the base camp. He waited for the optimal weather conditions to start his final push. His ascent to the peak began on May 14, reaching Camp II on the same day, Camp III on May 18, and Camp IV early on May 19.

Reaching the Summit

Babar Ali reached the summit of Mount Everest at 8:45 am Bangladesh time on May 19, 2024. This accomplishment makes him the first Bangladeshi to summit Everest in the last 11 years and the sixth overall.

Support and Sponsorship

Babar’s expedition was supported by Visual Knitwear Ltd, with co-sponsors including Everest Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Dhaka Divers’ Club, Beacon Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Blue Jay, Chandrabindu Publishers, Giri, and Vertical Dreamers. Additionally, many others contributed to the necessary funds for this significant endeavor.

Future Plans

Babar Ali, a doctor by profession, is not stopping at Everest. He plans to scale Mount Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world, which is adjacent to Mount Everest. If successful, he will become the first Bangladeshi to summit Lhotse, adding another milestone to his impressive mountaineering career.

Babar has been an avid trekker for the past decade, conquering various peaks in Nepal and India since the formation of the mountaineers’ club Vertical Dreamers in 2014. He has successfully summited 11 of the world’s highest peaks in the Himalayas, showcasing his dedication and passion for mountaineering.

Before Babar, Musa Ibrahim (2010), MA Muhit (2011), Nishat Majumdar (2012), and Wasfia Nazreen (2012) had successfully summited Mount Everest. Mohammed Khaled Hossain also summited Everest in 2013 but tragically passed away on his descent. Babar’s accomplishment continues the legacy of Bangladeshi mountaineers and inspires future generations to pursue their dreams.

Babar Ali’s remarkable feat of summiting Mount Everest is a testament to his determination, skill, and perseverance. His journey highlights the spirit of adventure and the relentless pursuit of goals, setting a new benchmark for Bangladeshi climbers.
