2024 Rankings: The 10 Highest-Valued NBA Teams Unveiled

Most Valuable NBA Franchises 2024

The NBA had a growing international influence in the 1990s, which has significantly increased over the past three decades.

Many teams have at least one player from another country, and the popularity of professional basketball is increasing. Let’s examine the franchises that are at the top of the NBA in terms of valuation. The information comes from Forbes.

1. Golden State Warriors: $7.7 Billion

This valuation is why fans strongly believe that Golden State should give Stephen Curry whatever he asks for. Before he came, the Warriors were known for being entertaining but not for winning championships. Golden State’s success has enabled the team’s owners to relocate them to San Francisco, where they currently compete at the Chase Center.

2. New York Knicks: $6.6 Billion

Playing at Madison Square Garden, the Knicks are known for putting on a show. Despite not contending for a championship in recent years, New York’s brand keeps them connected to pop culture and drives merchandise sales. During challenging times, ticket prices have stayed consistent.

3. Los Angeles Lakers: $6.4 Billion

Throughout their history, the Lakers have had the extraordinary good fortune to print money, so it is perhaps somewhat unexpected that they are not the most valuable team in the NBA. At the STAPLES Center, both celebrities and basketball aficionados purchase tickets in large numbers to witness the legendary Los Angeles Lakers play.

4. Boston Celtics: $4.7 Billion

With a total of seventeen NBA titles, the Boston Celtics are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the most illustrious franchise status in sports. Boston’s valuation ought to perpetually remain within the top five, provided that they are able to avert any protracted hiatus in the standings. They are in an excellent position to hoist their eighteenth championship banner following the 2023-2024 campaign.

5. Los Angeles Clippers: $4.65 Billion

For many years, the Clippers have struggled in the NBA, but Steve Ballmer is working hard to change that for the team. During his time as owner, there have been significant changes that have led to the acquisition of high-caliber talent for the team. The Clippers will be relocating to their new arena, set to open in the 2024-2025 season.

6. Chicago Bulls: $4.6 Billion

Maybe every NBA team should be thankful to the Bulls. Without Chicago’s six titles in the 1990s, the league may not have garnered as much global attention. Chicago has not been able to reach the same level of success since Michael Jordan departed the team following the 1998 season. However, the city continues to benefit financially from the team’s past achievements.

7. Dallas Mavericks: $4.5 Billion

The rise in Mavericks stock is mainly due to the effective actions taken by Mark Cuban. In 2000, he purchased the team when their valuation was at $167 million, placing them near the bottom of the league. The Cuban has placed a strong emphasis on high-quality amenities in the locker room for both the Mavericks and visiting players, and this investment in the team has yielded great results.

8. Houston Rockets: $4.4 Billion

It may come as a surprise to some to find the Rockets on this list, but being located in a major United States city greatly benefits their financial performance. Houston has seen its fair share of notable teams over the years, such as the consecutive champions in 1994 and 1995. They are also very well-liked in China due to Yao Ming’s time with the team in the 2000s.

9. Philadelphia 76ers: $4.3 Billion

The 76ers have consistently had some of the most entertaining players in the league over the years. From Wilt Chamberlain to Julius Erving, Allen Iverson to Joel Embiid, Philadelphia has been home to iconic players throughout different eras. The 76ers are aiming to secure their first championship since the early 1980s.

10. Toronto Raptors: $4.1 Billion

The Raptors are considered Canada’s team, giving them a natural edge in capturing the basketball fanbase of a nation. Since joining the league in the mid-1990s, Toronto has developed a dedicated fan following in the NBA. There is a possibility that the Raptors’ merchandise sales will increase in the upcoming years, following the acquisition of Canadian fan-favorite R.J. Barrett in late December 2023.
