Crown Publications on Wednesday announced sales of Barack Obama’s book “A Promised Land” have topped 3.3 million copies in the United States and Canada.
“A Promised Land” just one month after its publication is going to become the best-selling presidential memoir in the modern times, AP reports.
Publishers have published 34 million copies in the first edition of the book. Of these, on the first day of its release on November 17, nearly 90,000 copies were sold in the U.S. and Canada.
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton’s book “My Life” has sold 3.5 million copies and George W. Bush’s “Decision Points” has sold 4 million copies.
When the 18th President of the U.S., Ulysses S. Grant, published the “Personal Memoirs of Ulysses Grant” in 1880, the book sold hundreds of thousands of copies. The total sales of the book are not known.
“A Promised Land,” the first of two planned volumes, covers Barack Obama’s election in 2008, the AP report said.
But there is no fixed date for release of the second book. His previous works which are written before he became U.S. president include “Dreams from My Father” and “The Audacity of Hope.”
