This Tuesday, the satellite ‘The Groundbreaker’ was launched into space, the first in the world developed to support the coverage of the 5G mobile network in different parts of the planet.

It was transported on a rocket from the aerospace company SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, according to international media reports.

The launch of the satellite, manufactured by the Spanish technology company Sateliot, was carried out from the US Vandenberg Space Center located in the state of California and would be the first of 64 of them that said company intends to put into orbit in a period of no more than a year and a half.

This device would have the capacity to connect via satellite any device that operates within an Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, as well as provide a 5G signal to terminals that for geographical reasons cannot receive cellular coverage in countries where it has already been developed this technology.

At the moment, more than 500 telecommunications operators around the world have established pre-sale contracts for the use of the satellite, with the expectation of providing services to more than 1.2 billion users around the world.
