Deepika Padukone Gets Hollywood Walk of Fame Star in 2026

Deepika Padukone Hollywood Walk of Fame

In a moment of great pride for India and the global South Asian community, internationally acclaimed Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone has been selected as a recipient of a Hollywood Walk of Fame star for the Class of 2026. With this recognition, Deepika becomes the first Indian actress ever to be awarded this prestigious honor, marking a monumental milestone in her career and for the Indian film industry at large.

The announcement came during a live press conference hosted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at Ovation Hollywood on July 2, 2025. Each year, a new class of celebrities and contributors from various fields—including motion pictures, television, music, live theater, and sports entertainment—is selected to be honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard. For the upcoming year, 35 luminaries were chosen, including Deepika.

Who Else Is Being Honored in 2026?

Deepika will share this incredible achievement with a list of internationally renowned stars. Some of the other notable names on the Walk of Fame Class of 2026 include:

  • Miley Cyrus – Global pop sensation and former Disney star
  • Timothée Chalamet – Hollywood heartthrob known for Dune and Call Me by Your Name
  • Emily Blunt – Acclaimed British actress known for A Quiet Place, Sicario, and The Devil Wears Prada
  • Marion Cotillard – Oscar-winning French actress for La Vie en Rose
  • Rachel McAdams – Canadian star of The Notebook, Mean Girls, and Spotlight
  • Franco Nero – Legendary Italian actor and star of the original Django
  • Gordon Ramsay – Celebrity chef and TV personality famous for Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef

This year’s selections reflect a broad range of talent, diversity, and global representation.

The Walk of Fame selection panel—an exclusive committee from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce—chose the honorees from hundreds of nominations submitted for consideration. The decision was finalized at a meeting on June 20, 2025, and subsequently ratified by the Chamber’s Board of Directors on June 25.

Statement from the Selection Committee

Peter Roth, the former CEO of Warner Bros. Television and current chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, said in an official statement:

“We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined on the Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026. These honorees have entertained and inspired millions around the world and richly deserve their places in Hollywood history.”

Deepika’s International Rise: From Bollywood Royalty to Global Icon

Deepika Padukone’s journey to international fame has been built on years of consistent excellence, both on and off the screen.

She made her debut in Indian cinema in 2007 with Om Shanti Om, opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Over the years, she has become one of Bollywood’s most versatile and successful actresses, starring in box-office hits like:

  • Chennai Express
  • Bajirao Mastani
  • Padmaavat
  • Piku
  • Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
  • Pathaan

Hollywood Debut and Global Recognition

In 2017, Deepika made her Hollywood debut opposite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The film, though commercially driven, marked a significant step toward placing Indian actresses in the international spotlight.

Since then, she has represented Indian cinema on some of the world’s biggest stages:

  • She was featured in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the world.
  • She appeared in Variety’s International Women’s Impact Report, recognizing her influence in global entertainment.
  • Her appearances at the Cannes Film Festival, where she served as a jury member, and the Met Gala, where she was hailed as a fashion icon, have further solidified her international reputation.

In 2023, Deepika had the distinct honor of being a presenter at the Academy Awards (Oscars). On the grand stage, she introduced the song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s film RRR to the global audience. The energetic track later won the Oscar for Best Original Song, making it a defining moment for Indian music and cinema in the global arena.

A Voice for Mental Health

Outside of films, Deepika Padukone has become one of India’s most respected voices in mental health advocacy. After openly speaking about her own battle with depression, she launched the Live Love Laugh Foundation in 2015. The foundation works to increase awareness about mental illness, reduce stigma, and provide support to individuals and families across India. Her efforts in this space have been recognized globally, contributing to her selection for several international honors.

Cultural Impact and Representation

Deepika’s recognition by the Hollywood Walk of Fame is more than a personal achievement—it symbolizes a shift in how South Asian talent is perceived globally. Her inclusion marks a milestone in cultural representation, breaking longstanding barriers in a Western industry that has historically underrepresented Asian actors.

This also follows a growing trend of Indian artists making a mark on the global stage, from AR Rahman winning Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire, to Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who has carved out a steady space in American entertainment. However, Deepika being the first Indian actress to earn a Walk of Fame star is truly groundbreaking.

When Will the Ceremony Take Place?

The star installation ceremony typically takes place in the following year after the announcement. While the exact date has not yet been revealed, fans and media can expect the event to be scheduled sometime in 2026, likely in the presence of Deepika herself. The ceremony is open to the public and usually garners massive media coverage and fan participation.

A Proud Moment for India and Global Fans

Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood Walk of Fame honor is not just an award—it’s a celebration of her global influence, consistent excellence, and her ability to bridge East and West through cinema. As a trailblazer for Indian women in international entertainment, her legacy is now etched into the heart of Hollywood—literally—with a star on the world’s most famous sidewalk.

As millions of fans await the unveiling ceremony in 2026, this moment will be remembered as a powerful reminder of how far Indian cinema has come—and how far it can still go.
