Through short films, narrative pieces and multilingual voice-overs, the cultural futurist is building an audience for ideas about culture, money and dignity across emerging markets.
Dickie Shearer, cultural futurist and Global South systems thinker
Doha, Qatar, October 21, 2026. Dickie Shearer, the cultural futurist and Global South systems thinker, is now reaching as many as 10 million viewers a month across the Global South through his storytelling on Instagram. His short films, narrative pieces and multilingual posts have turned ideas about culture, money and belief into conversations that travel across regions and languages.
The milestone reflects a deliberate choice. Rather than speaking only to industry insiders, Shearer has set out to reach the people whose lives his ideas are about, in formats and languages they actually use.
Stories That Travel Across Languages
Shearer’s content is built to move. He combines curated video, narrative storytelling and multilingual voice-overs so that the same idea can be heard by audiences in different countries without losing its meaning.
It is an approach rooted in how the Global South actually communicates. Across Africa, Asia and emerging markets, many people live and work in more than one language, and the stories that resonate most are often the ones told in the language closest to home. By speaking to audiences in their own languages, Shearer’s work meets people where they are.
Who Gets to Tell the Story
At the heart of the project is a question Shearer returns to often, who gets to tell the story of the Global South. For too long, he believes, the region has been described mostly by outsiders, through frameworks built elsewhere.
His answer is to build something larger than content. He has described the aim as “a movement rooted in shared dignity, curiosity, and possibility.” Dignity runs through all of it. In his view, communities should be seen for their ingenuity, their traditions and the sophisticated ways they already organise their lives, rather than as problems waiting to be solved.
From Ancient Wisdom to Blockchain
The range of Shearer’s thinking is part of what draws people in. On his website, he writes about consciousness, money, belief systems and the stories that connect people, covering ideas that stretch from ancient wisdom to blockchain. He also explores cultural artificial intelligence and how technology can reflect the communities it serves.
A single principle ties these subjects together. The world, he has written, makes far more sense once people “stop viewing it through the framing you inherited.” Much of his storytelling is an invitation to do exactly that, to look again at money, technology and culture without assuming the answers are already settled.
Those ideas also shape his work as the founder of Tintra, where he is building financial infrastructure designed around the cultures of the Global South. But it is through his storytelling that many people first encounter his thinking, and a growing number are choosing to follow along.
