Minecraft Movie Builds $260M+ Worldwide in Epic Box Office Debut

Minecraft Movie Box Office

The popular video game adaptation is smashing records globally and bringing in big numbers at the box office.

Warner Bros and Legendary’s A Minecraft Movie is proving to be a massive hit around the world. With strong numbers coming in from both domestic and international markets, the movie is expected to earn over $260 million globally by the end of its opening weekend.

Directed by Jared Hess, and starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black, the film is winning over audiences in dozens of countries.

Strong Global Earnings So Far

As of Friday, the film had collected $52.7 million from 75 overseas markets. These international results are pointing to a weekend total of around $125 million from abroad. When added to the projected $135 million domestic debut, the film’s worldwide opening is set to pass $260 million, making it one of the biggest openings of 2025 so far.

China Leads the Charge in Asia

In China, the movie had a phenomenal start. It opened at $6.6 million on Friday, making it the biggest launch day for a Hollywood film this year. That number jumped to $11.5 million after just two days. Impressively, it outperformed major titles like The Super Mario Bros Movie and Kung Fu Panda 4.

UK and Europe See Record-Breaking Starts

The United Kingdom delivered a major boost with a $6 million opening day, grabbing 91% of the country’s top five box office titles and marking the biggest single box office day in 2025. The film’s debut numbers were higher than Across the Spider-Verse, Inside Out 2, and even the recent Jumanji movies.

In Spain, the movie also took the top spot with $1.7 million on Friday, capturing 83% of the top five and beating Despicable Me 4 and Detective Pikachu.

Poland followed with a solid $1.5 million debut, and is on track to have its biggest opening weekend ever, possibly beating even Marvel and Avatar titles.

Mexico, Germany, and the Middle East Are All In

In Mexico, the movie opened with $1.9 million on Thursday, ranking No. 1 and outperforming Sonic the Hedgehog by 13%, and Kung Fu Panda 4 by 54%.

Germany pulled in $1.7 million with previews, making it the best debut of the year and topping many similar movies like Free Guy and Into the Spider-Verse.

The Middle East added $4.4 million by Thursday, with many countries aligning the release with the Eid holidays, helping boost attendance.

Dominating Australia and Brazil

In Australia, the movie made $1.1 million on Thursday, outperforming The Super Mario Bros Movie by 9%.

Meanwhile, Brazil saw an opening day of $759K, which was on par with Sonic 3 and above many other Hollywood competitors.

Top Markets Through Friday

As of Friday, the Top 5 International Markets are:

  • China – $6.6 million
  • United Kingdom – $6.2 million
  • Mexico – $4 million
  • Germany – $3.6 million
  • Australia – $2.8 million

A Win for Video Game Adaptations

The success of A Minecraft Movie shows that audiences are still excited about video game stories on the big screen. With its huge fanbase, family-friendly theme, and strong marketing, the film is building a box office empire brick by brick.

What’s Next?

Full weekend numbers will be released on Sunday, but all signs point to A Minecraft Movie being one of the biggest global hits of the year. With more markets still opening and word-of-mouth growing, the movie may continue to climb even higher in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for more updates as this cinematic adventure continues to build on its early success.
