With the Secret Code setting enabled, users can completely hide the entry point to access locked chats in their chat list. Instead of tapping to open locked chats, users can set up a secret code. By entering this code directly into the Chats tab search bar, users can discreetly open their locked conversations.
This adds a new dimension of privacy by obscuring the pathway to private chats from unwanted eyes. Even if someone gets access to the user’s phone, the entry point remains concealed unless they know the secret code. This provides peace of mind by safeguarding sensitive conversations. Providing a Failsafe for Users Who Forget Their Secret Code
For users concerned about forgetting their secret code, WhatsApp has implemented a failsafe. In the privacy settings, users now have the option to quickly clear the list of locked chats. This acts as a backup mechanism, allowing users to regain access if they ever get locked out of private conversations due to a forgotten secret code.
Rolling Out to More Users Soon
This innovative secret code feature is currently limited to select beta testers on the latest WhatsApp for Android 2.23.24.20 update.
