Seven Rules for Better Health – A Guide for Women

Seven Rules for Better Health

If you are looking for effective ways to live the best and healthiest life as a woman, then you are here at the right place. Here are some rules to follow for better health.

Improve Your Heart Health

Let us talk about your heart health first. You should never ignore chest pain. Too many women say that it is just heartburn or that it is the stress. You should know that chest pain isn’t always linked with your heart, as there are other areas of health that could cause pain in that area, such as GERD and ulcers.

However, you should rule out cardiac disease first.

There are four areas that you should focus on and start screening them in your early 20s.

  • Blood pressure –normal blood pressure is 120/80.
  • Cholesterol – you want it to be below 100.
  • Blood sugar – you want that to be less than 5.7.
  • BMI – make sure it is in the range of 18.5 to 25.

Also, you should keep in mind your family’s history. A lot of people don’t ask questions about their family, but you should know that if you had a mom or sister who had a cardiac event before the age of 65 or a father or a brother before the age of 55 – this is considered a positive family history of cardiovascular disease.

So, if you have a positive family history of a disease, it can place you at a higher risk of developing health issues.

Understand Effective Stress Management

As a woman, you should never avoid managing stress. We know that, as a general knowledge, stress is really bad. Tons of research in this area has proved that there is a link between what happens in your head and what happens in your body.

You might have heard about incidents related to stress-induced heart attacks. While you cannot take away the stress factors, you can definitely turn off that flight or fight response even for 15-minute intervals during the day.

Pay Attention to A Good Night’s Sleep

This rule is incredibly important, yet many women choose to ignore it. You should know that you cannot make up the lost hours of a good night’s sleep. You should know that it is incredibly important to get those seven to eight hours of sleep every day.

Speaking of sleep, there are several conditions, such as sleep apnea, that can lead to cardiac arrest or high blood pressure.

Think About Osteoporosis

As a woman, you should think about your bone health and not wait for a fracture to think about the possibilities of osteoporosis. About ten million people in the USA have osteoporosis at the age of fifty, and 80% of these people are females.

There are loads of medications, illnesses, and your family history that can tell a lot about your bone health. Get screened regularly so that you know what is going on inside your body.

Never Ignore Calcium Intake

On the same note, you should never ignore calcium intake in childhood and adolescence. Bone health is something that you need to think about as soon as you can instead of waiting until you are diagnosed with osteoporosis.

Girls reach the peak of their bone mass by the age of eighteen, and in your mid-30s, you are already starting to lose your bone mass. It is important to mention here that calcium intake doesn’t need to include dairy only. There are many non-dairy sources of calcium, such as the following:

  • Chia seeds
  • Broccoli
  • Soy Milk
  • Salmon
  • Kale
  • Spinach

Avoid Excessive Smoke and Alcohol

As a woman, you should never smoke or drink in excess. It is important to mention here that when it comes to alcohol, we aren’t talking about light or moderate drinking – we are talking about excessive drinking. The same goes for tobacco smoking, especially when you are pregnant. You want to avoid the intake of alcohol and tobacco.

Speaking of pregnancy, you should limit the intake of caffeine. Also, check out this vaginal moisturizer, which can come in handy when dealing with postpartum recovery.  It will take time and care to bring your body back to the pre-pregnancy state, which is why you should take care of all aspects of your physical health, including your vaginal health.

Never Skip Exercise

When it comes to exercise, we are talking about strength, balance, and exercise that helps with coordination. Today’s medications are very good at preventing spine fractures, and they are decently good at preventing hip fractures. The majority of fractures that happen to women in their wrists and ankles happen from falls.

So, you want to ensure that you maintain your strength and flexibility as you get older. This way, you can prevent a lot of osteoporosis fractures in the future. When it comes to exercise, never blame your weight gain on menopause or perimenopause. You need to get a little bit smarter to make the right lifestyle choices.
