Fed up with Twitter? Learn about the best Twitter alternative in 2024: Bluesky! Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, has released Bluesky, a decentralized alternative to Twitter, for Android.
The app debuted in February 2022 on iOS devices and has since made its way to Android devices. Although only about 25,000 users are currently in the Bluesky community, this could rapidly grow as more people are granted access.
Bluesky is currently invite-only, so if you want to join, you’ll have to wait to be invited or ask someone who is already a member for an invite.
Bluesky: Best Twitter Alternative with Cool Moderation
Bluesky’s biggest draw for those looking to leave Twitter is its composable moderation, despite limitations like the inability to send direct messages and a Twitter-like appearance. To enhance the quality of their feed, users and administrators can now make and share tagging rules.
Anyone can define and apply tags to content without needing a personal data server. Then, any service or person on the network can decide how to use these tags, which third-party services or custom algorithms can automatically generate.
Composable moderation in Bluesky allows users to create and share tagging rules that improve content quality, unlike Twitter’s centralized moderation and algorithms that control your feed. Those who wish to avoid Twitter’s centralized moderation may appreciate this new function.
How to Get Bluesky?
Bluesky is available on the Google Play Store for those invited to use it. The app has a character limit of 265, significantly lower than Twitter’s most recent update, which increased the limit to 10,000 for Twitter Blue subscribers.
Even if you haven’t received an invitation, you can get on the waiting list by registering on their website.
