Argentina vs Croatia 2018 History

Before FIFA World Cup 2022, Croatia beat Argentina 3-0 in the 2018 World Cup semifinals.
In 1998, Argentina and Croatia met for the first time in a tournament game. In group play, Mauricio Pineda’s goal gave the South American team a 1-0 win.

Argentina and Croatia are playing in their third World Cup game, and it’s the first time either team has played in the knockout round. In 1998, before Croatia beat Russia by a score of 3-0, Argentine won by a score of 1-0.

Argentina is trying for the sixth time to get to the World Cup final. Only Germany has been to the World Cup eight times so far.

Argentina has never lost in the semifinals before. They recently beat the Netherlands in 2014.

Argentina will try to avoid the same result as the last time they played Croatia. The last time Argentina played Croatia, they had more possession of the ball, but they didn’t do much with it. This is something they can’t do in 2022. Back at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, they lost to Croatia by a score of 3-0 in the group stage. This meant that they ended up in second place in Group D. Because of this, Argentina had to play France in the Round of 16, and they lost. Croatia, on the other hand, had an easier path to the final, and they won.

The two teams have met five times, and each has won twice and tied once. Croatia has scored seven goals in the five games, while Argentina has only scored five. This means that Croatia has scored more goals than both Argentina and Argentina.

Lionel Messi has scored twice in three games against Croatia, and he has scored four goals in five games in Qatar before this semifinal. The first meeting ever took place in 1994 at the home of an international friend. Also, it was the only time the two of them fought and the result was a tie.
Since then, Argentina and Croatia have played each other twice in international friendlies, in 2006 and 2014. Both times, Argentina won and Croatia lost.

Argentina vs Croatia Lineup

In the quarterfinals, when they played the Netherlands, Argentina had eight corners. On the other hand, Croatia only got three corners in their 120-minute quarterfinal match.
Angel Di Maria’s health will be Argentina’s main worry going into this game. The 34-year-old winger was only used as a last-second sub against the Netherlands because he was still trying to heal from a muscle injury he got at the end of the Round of 16 matches against Australia. Rodrigo de Paul’s health was a worry before the game against the Netherlands, but he was able to play.

Croatia has no major injuries to worry about going into this game. Mateo Kovacic worried people before the quarterfinal game because he hurt his face during gym practice, but he was healthy enough to play. Nikola Vlasic hurt his muscle during the group stage, but he is now fine, and Marcelo Brozovic, who had a hamstring injury before the tournament, is now a key part of Croatia’s midfield. Argentine players Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel got yellow cards during their team’s win over the Netherlands, which kept them out of the semi-finals. No players for Croatia have been suspended.
