His early years were characterized by a lot of moving around. This was because he lived in foster care for some time. Living in different homes taught him to adapt to new situations quickly.

Tyrus attended Quartz Hill High School in Los Angeles County, California, before pursuing higher education at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster in 1992. Later, he studied to become a teacher at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he also played college football for the Lopers.

Unfortunately, his football career was cut short due to complications from an appendix removal surgery that left him with a permanent limp.

Tyrus has shared some aspects of his family life, but he has not disclosed many details about his parents. His mother’s name and background remain unknown to the public. In the interview, Tyrus said that his young parents lacked the experience to raise a child effectively. Their grandparents did not want them there because they were mixed race. So, Tyrus’s parents sent the boys to live with a foster family. They stayed there for a long time.

As Tyrus grew up, he had a hard time with who he was. He wished he could change his skin color. He thought this would let him be back with his family. Later, Tyrus and his brother saw their mom again. But Tyrus left home when he was 15 years old.
