Hit Movie Ted Set to Be Given TV Treatment in New Series

Cinema lovers will be familiar with the unruly bear Ted. The abrupt toy was iconic, as it provided an interactive storytelling experience for children. It became immortalised on the big screen, as Ted came to life in spectacular, but also shocking fashion.

After taking the big screen by storm, big plans are in store for Ted, so we could see the foul-mouthed bear back in action sooner than we may have anticipated. Indeed, there have been negotiations for some time about adapting it into a TV series. That dream looks set to be a reality, as fans will be reunited with the bear that is undoubtedly a lovable rogue.

Between them, Ted and Ted 2 grossed more than $750million at the cinema worldwide. Seth MacFarlane, who was inspirational in American Dad and Modern Family, looks like he will end up reprising the voice of the protagonist for the Ted TV series. Here’s what we know so far.

Uncovering Ted

There’s something enigmatic about Ted. MacFarlane – who is a man of many talents – released the debut film in 2012, and few expected it to take off in the manner it did.

The film is a riveting watch from start to finish as it chronicles John Bennett (played by Mark Wahlberg) and Ted (MacFarlane) as they transition from childhood pals to adult life. There are plenty of scenes where Ted goes off the rails, as well as the duo sitting around smoking weed on the sofa, but ultimately their friendship affects John’s relationship with his girlfriend, Lori Collins (Mila Kunis).

Yet despite the escapades and the emotional rollercoaster John and Ted go on, there is something still heart-warming about the film.

Although Ted 2 didn’t perform as well as the original Ted, it is still a cult classic, and over time, it has capitalised on its popularity by broadening its reach. Far from just being a popular movie, it has also diversified and entered the casino world. In doing so, it has become one of the best Megaways slots around.

On the TV front, negotiations had been mooted for some time, but much to the chagrin of fans, no release date has been confirmed. Nevertheless, we expect big things when the TV series comes to fruition.

New adventure for Seth MacFarlane

It’s hard not to get excited about the TV series Ted, even though it is in the early stages of production. As far as MacFarlane is concerned, he is certainly kept busy. MacFarlane is also working on other shows, including American Dad which is approaching its 18th season on TBS, while the critically acclaimed Family Guy is about to begin its 20th season on Fox.

In addition, MacFarlane has also just finished production of the third season of The Orville. MacFarlane and Erica Huggins will executive produce the Ted series, but it wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for MacFarlane’s blockbuster deal with UCP.

It will be fascinating to see what the TV ratings are like for Ted, but you can be assured of a laugh from start to finish. We can’t wait to see how things unravel, and if it is as half as good as the film, then we could be in for a treat.
