Roulette: Different Types of Bets Explained

Types of Roulette Bets

Roulette is a popular casino game involving a spinning wheel with numbered pockets and a ball dropped onto the wheel. Players place bets on where they think the ball will land, and if their prediction is correct, they win.

Understanding the different types of roulette bets is crucial for players, allowing them to make informed decisions and strategize their gameplay effectively. Each type of bet offers varying odds and payouts. This is important when playing at online casinos for real money, as knowing the options available can help players maximize their chances of winning and enhance their overall gaming experience. For players visiting casinos providing quick payouts, understanding the game is even more crucial. These players often want to sign up, play, and get their winnings
straight away, rather than coming back to the game over a period of days or weeks. So, it’s best in this case to have a game plan before even joining the site and starting to play. For those new to roulette, here’s everything you need to know:

Inside Bets

Inside bets in roulette refer to bets placed on specific numbers or groups of numbers within the number grid on the roulette table. Here are the different types of inside bets:

● Straight Bet: This is a bet on a single number and it’s available at all online roulette games, whether you’re playing on a desktop or mobile casino, and no matter where in the world your chosen casino is based. If the ball lands on that specific number, the payout is typically the highest, but the odds of winning are lower.
● Split Bet: A bet on two adjacent numbers on the grid. The chip is placed on the line between the two numbers. If either number hits, the payout is lower than a straight bet but higher than other types of bets.
● Street Bet: This involves betting on a row of three numbers. The chip is placed at the end of the row. If any of the three numbers hit, the payout is lower than a split bet but higher than others.
● Corner Bet: Also known as a square bet, this is a bet on four numbers that meet at a corner on the grid. The chip is placed at the intersection of the four numbers. The payout is lower than a street bet but higher than others.
● Six Line Bet: This bet covers two adjacent rows of numbers, totalling six numbers. The chip is placed at the intersection of the two rows. The payout is lower than a corner bet but higher than others. Understanding these inside bets and their respective odds and payouts can help players make informed decisions and develop effective strategies when playing roulette.

Outside Bets

When playing roulette, outside bets refer to bets placed on the outer sections of the roulette table layout. These bets typically have higher odds of winning but offer lower payouts than inside bets. Here are the different types of outside bets in roulette:
● Red/Black Bet: Players can bet whether the winning number will be red or black. This bet pays even money (1:1), but has only a 47.37% probability of wining, like other even-money bets in roulette.
● Odd/Even Bet: Players can bet on whether the winning number will be odd or even. This bet also pays even money (1:1).
● Dozen Bet: Players can bet on 12 numbers (1-12, 13-24, or 25-36). This bet pays 2:1.
● Column Bet: Players can bet on a vertical column of numbers on the roulette table. This bet also pays 2:1.
● High/Low Bet: Players can bet on whether the winning number will be high (19-36) or low (1-18). This bet pays even money (1:1). These outside bets provide players with various options when playing roulette, each with its own odds and potential payouts. Understanding these different types of outside bets can help players develop a strategic approach to their gameplay and increase their chances of winning.

Call Bets

Call bets in roulette are special bets typically found in European and French versions of the game. These bets are placed on specific groups of numbers on the roulette wheel and are often referred to by their French names. Here are some common call bets:

● Voisins du Zero: This bet covers a series of numbers close to zero on the wheel. It includes the 17 numbers that are closest to zero, starting from 22 and going through to 25 on the wheel.
● Tiers du Cylindre: This bet covers a series of numbers opposite zero on the wheel. It includes the 12 numbers that are opposite to the Voisins du Zero numbers, ranging from 27 to 33 on the wheel.
● Orphelins: This bet covers the remaining numbers on the wheel that are not covered by the Voisins du Zero or Tiers du Cylindre bets. It consists of the numbers 1, 6, 9, 14, 17, 20, 31, and 34.
● Neighbors: This bet allows players to bet on a specific number on the wheel and its neighboring numbers. For example, if a player bets on the number 5 and its neighbors, they effectively bet on five and the two numbers on either side of it on the wheel.

Call bets add a layer of complexity and excitement to the roulette game, giving players more options to explore and potentially increasing their chances of winning. However, players must understand the rules and payouts associated with each call bet before placing their wagers.

Overall, understanding the various types of roulette bets is essential for players looking to enhance their gaming experience and increase their chances of winning. Whether it’s placing inside bets on specific numbers or outside bets on broader categories, each type of bet offers different odds and payouts. By familiarising themselves with the different bet options and incorporating them into their gameplay strategy, players can make more informed decisions and improve their overall success at the roulette table. Mastering the nuances of roulette bet types can lead to a more enjoyable and rewarding casino experience.
