Reacher Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Plot with Latest Updates in 2023
Listen to Podcast:
Reacher season 2 was based on the book by Lee Child about Jack Reacher. It was renewed for a Reacher season 2 just three days after the first season came out on the streaming service. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Jack on the big screen.
In the 2010s, Tom Cruise starred in two action movies that featured Jack. Reacher on TV, however, has a whole new look. Alan Ritchson, who plays the part, is 6 feet 2 inches tall, which is closer to the 6 feet 5 inches he is in the books. Nick Santora, who has been nominated for an Emmy, wrote the first season’s script. In season 1, the former military policeman fought corrupt police officers, politicians, and businessmen after being wrongfully convicted of a murder he did not commit. So, he had to fight a lot of bad guys to clear his name.
When the Original series came out in the US and around the world, it quickly became one of the top five most-watched shows on Amazon Prime Video. Reacher season 2, which doesn’t really come as a surprise, and that’s what we’re here to talk about. Here’s everything we know so far about Reacher season 2, from its release date to its plot and cast.
Will There Be a Reacher Season 2?
Yes, it sure will. Reacher was picked up for Reacher season 2 by Amazon just three days after the first episode. Amazon said that the series was one of its most-watched ever, ranking somewhere in the top five (of all time) for views over a 24-hour period, and also one of its most highly rated, with viewers giving it an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars.
Author Lee Child said this about the Reacher season 2:
“Working with Amazon Studios on Reacher season 1 was a real pleasure. They had our backs the whole time, and it shows in every line and every frame. So, I’m glad we’ll be working together again for Season 2. I’m very happy to hear this, and I can’t wait to get started. Reacher is in the best hands he could be in.”
After the success of HBO’s Game of Thrones, networks, and streaming services have all been on the adaptation trail, hoping to find a blockbuster hit with a lot of source material to keep it going for a few seasons. (It looks like Amazon took a chance on Wheel of Time.) There are enough reasons to believe that Amazon has a big enough audience for adult action. All of the good shows, like The Boys, Jack Ryan, and Invincible, were picked up for more seasons. Even though it is not yet clear what Reacher season 2 will be like, we can expect another faithful adaptation of the book.
Reacher Season 2 Release Date: When will it Premiere?
As was recently reported, Prime Video got the network to say that Reacher would return only three days after the first episode of the main season, though the exact date of the return is still unknown.
Amazon’s Deadline showed that Reacher was one of the top five most-watched series on Amazon over a period of 24 hours in both the United States and around the world. It also has a good reputation among customers, so the quick reestablishment of this agreement shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to anyone.
Due to how quickly the news came out, we think that if production starts this year, the show could come back in early 2023, and it’s possible that episodes could air all through the middle of 2023.

Reacher Season 2 Plot
Alan Ritchson announced on Twitter that the new season will be based on Lee Child’s 11th book in the Jack Reacher series, Bad Luck and Trouble.
“You do not mess with Jack Reacher,” says the book’s summary. He is about as hard to find as someone can get. A person who prefers to be alone and doesn’t mind being anonymous. So when someone from his old Army unit figures out how to get in touch with him, he knows it must be important.
“The Special Investigators are not to be messed with. In the past, the best team always looked out for each other. Now, one of them has been found dead in the desert of California, and six of them are still missing. Reacher can’t forget that his old friends are in big trouble.
The child had talked about which of the Reacher books could be turned into the next episode of the show.
“I haven’t read any of them. I wrote them down. I’ve never read them again. I know them because of what other people say about them,” the Child said.
“And some of them are very well-known. And I think the best thing about Reacher season 1 was how Reacher’s relationships with other people helped him feel less lonely. I’d like to see more of that. And there are two or three books that really stand out in that sense. So maybe one of them.”

Reacher Season 2: Cast & Characters
Alan Ritchson plays Jack Reacher, Willa Fitzgerald plays Roscoe Conklin, Malcolm Goodwin plays Oscar Finlay, Marc Bendavid plays Hubble, Maria Sten plays Frances Neagley, Bruce McGill plays Mayor Grover Teale, and Chris Webster plays KJ in the first season of the game.
In Reacher season 1, Harvey Guillén played Jasper, Currie Graham played Kleiner Sr. Kristin Kreuk played Charlie, Willie C. Carpenter played Mosley, Hugh Thompson played Baker, and Christopher Russell played Joe.
Reacher’s stories are fun because you can only really be sure of one character: Reacher himself. In this case, we know for sure that Alan Ritchson will be on the show. We should see a return for his accomplice Neagley (Maria Sten), given she’s a recurring character in Bad Luck and Trouble, too.
The following list of new actors will also be on the Reacher season 2:
- Serinda Swan
- Ferdinand Kingsley
- Rory Cochrane
- Domenick Lombardozzi
- Luke Bilyk
- Dean McKenzie
- Edsson Morales

- Ty Victor Olsson
- Josh Blacker
- Al Sapienza
Reacher Season 2 Trailer: Is the Trailer Already Out?
This means that there isn’t a trailer for Reacher season 2 yet. It’s not clear if the cast and crew are back on set yet, so it’s unlikely that we’ll have a trailer to share for a while.
There is a trailer and a teaser for Reacher Season 1 on Amazon Prime Video. Reacher shows up in the small town of Margrave Town at the start of the trailer, which makes the local authorities curious. Since seven people died after he got there, the police might think he had something to do with their deaths.
Like every Lee adaptation, it shows a fistfight with him as the Hulk opening a beer bottle with his bulging muscles. In the Reacher trailer, there are also hints that Reacher might find love. The trailer is available on Amazon Prime and YouTube.
Which Book Will Reacher Season 2 Follow, and What’s It About?
Reacher Season 1 was based on Lee Child’s first book about Jack Reacher, called Killing Floor. Alan Ritchson announced on Twitter on May 18 which book Reacher season 2 would be based on.
In the eleventh book of the series, Bad Luck and Trouble, Reacher looks into the deaths of members of his old military police squad. Nick Santora, who makes the Reacher series, has said that the show won’t follow the books in order, so expect future seasons to jump around again.
Amazon’s official logline for the season is a bit harsher: “When members of Reacher’s old military unit start turning up dead, Reacher only has one thing on his mind: revenge.” Yes!
How Did Reacher Season 1 End?
In the last episode, “Pie,” Reacher was forced by KJ to watch Roscoe, who was being held captive, through a live stream. Reacher and Picard were sent to find Hubbly. But Richer got Picard to stop and fix the tire by tricking him. Jack tried to shoot Picard, but Picard was able to get away. Next, Reacher ran in to find Hubble, who told him that he was working with Joe to stop Kline’s plan. Jack learned that Finlay was being held prisoner at the police station. He went to the police station, hit Baker, and freed Finlay.
Reacher also got a few weapons and used gasoline to set Kliner’s factory on fire. Finlay used a hydraulic press to kill Picard, and Teale killed herself. Jack splashed KJ with chemicals that caught fire, and then he kicked him into the fire to kill him.
Reacher’s mother died after a long, painful illness. This was shown in a flashback. On her deathbed, she gave Jack the Croix de Guerre that his French grandfather had won. Roscoe told Jack about her plans to run for mayor and fix up Margrave. Finlay went back to Boston so he could start a new life there. After burying Joe’s medal, Jack decided to leave Margrave, and Reacher was back on the road when the first season ended. Reacher Season 2 is sure to show Jack going on another killing adventure as he fights crimes, uncovers plots, and saves lives in a new place.
Reacher Season 1 Review and Rating
We liked how Reacher was turned into a TV show, and we especially liked how Ritchson was chosen to play Reacher. Even though there were things that could have been done better, we flew through the episodes. Also, it’s important to know that we thought the show got better as the season went on, but we could only watch the first five episodes for review.
If you’ve read a review of Reacher season 1, you know how much people like the show. You should also check out the IMDb rating for Reacher Season 1.

Is Reacher Worth Watching?
Yes, yes, and yes a million times over. I’ll admit that I wasn’t a big fan of the character because I hadn’t read any of the books, but I like Alan Ritchson and Malcolm Goodwin, so I gave it a shot. And I’m so glad I did. It was such a pleasant surprise to find a well-written, well-made action show that wasn’t over the top or overacted.
Alan’s brilliant portrayal of Jack Reacher starts off a little slow, but the series is so good that you can’t help but watch it all in one sitting. The story is great, and each episode shows a little more about how the corrupt politicians and shady businessmen in Margrave, Georgia, run things.
Just when you think you’ve figured out what’s going on, another surprise comes out of nowhere. The action scenes are great, and everyone who plays a part is perfect. Reacher is a great book.
Pros and Cons of Reacher Season 1
Great Balance of Humor and Action
Reacher made me laugh with a lot of new one-liners that gave this series a fun edge just when I thought I had heard them all. There are also a lot of fight scenes to look forward to. If you want a lot to do, you’ve come to the right place! The murder case is also strong enough to keep this show from getting too boring and repetitive.
Music and Other Departments
As was already said, the show’s music is fantastic. It sets the mood for a fight, a situation, an action, a drama, or anything else. The director had a good team of people to help him with editing and cinematography. The camerawork was especially good and deserves to be called out. The stunt teams have done a great job of choreographing some great fight scenes, and the script supervisor does a good job of making sure everything stays on track.
Fun banter and Chemistry Between Characters
Malcolm Goodwin and Willa Fitzgerald’s “Scream, Dare Me” are two of my favorite authors (iZombie, Breakout Kings). I thought that the characters who were not Reacher had their own charm and that they worked really well with him. In between the action, there are a lot of funny scenes because the characters are real and don’t take themselves too seriously.
Some Melodramatic Fluff to Deal with…
Even though the episodes are on the longer side, the overall pace of the show is good. But there are some parts of the show that slow it down a bit. Some of the minor characters overreact and give us melodramatic filler. This didn’t change how I felt about the show, but I liked the action and banter scenes better.
