Pep Guardiola vs Jurgen Klopp: Who is Gonna Win this Season?

Back in the days, it was Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and Rafael Benitez all going head to head for the Premier League title. The rivalry between these four seemed to mirror peak Premier League football.

However, football evolves, and so do the rivalries. Nowadays, we witness a rivalry between two managers that will surely go down among the best in history – Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp. So, another season is upon us and the rivalry seems to get bigger each year, and once again the question dooms: who is going to come on top this year?

Premier League

Both managers will focus on establishing a legacy in the Premier League, and given the results in the previous seasons, we are likely to see another close title race. Sports betting sites also have a rich offer for anyone who would like to bet on the Premier League winner. For example, the Paddy Power free bets are a good way for any new punter to kick off their betting experience, and since the season has just begun, the time is now for doing so.

Both teams have strengthened significantly with the additions of Haaland and Nunez, but they have also lost key players as well – Sterling, Mane, Jesus, etc. It is difficult to see anyone past these two, but probably Jurgen Klopp has a point to prove more in the Premier League, so the Reds will be as motivated as ever to lift their 20th league title.

Injuries, suspensions and luck can also have a massive impact on the Premier League title race, but at the moment, it seems like Liverpool are finally ready to go one step further and close the gap on City from the previous years.

Guardiola will be eager to build a dynasty at the Blue side of Manchester, but the lack of success in the Champions League in recent seasons may well take their focus a bit away from the Premier League

Champions League

The Champions League is a very prestigious competition, and there are cases of a manager’s fate, such as Quique Setien, being decided based on their success in it. Pep Guardiola will be desperate to prove his doubters wrong once again, as he still hasn’t won a Champions League since leaving Barcelona more than a decade ago.

As for Klopp, we are all aware of the magic Anfield brings to Champions League nights, so we can expect another stellar European campaign from the Reds. The Haaland addition seems like the final piece of the puzzle for Guardiola, so if you want to try your luck on the Citizens winning the Champions League, check the Paddy Power offer and odds.

Manchester City were harshly eliminated in the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League campaign against Real Madrid, so one cannot help but feel that a European title is at City’s grasp finally.

A fairytale campaign would be to see a Man City vs Liverpool final, but the road there is not easy at all. It is difficult to look anywhere past these two teams for the Champions League trophy, and it seems like the Citizens will just edge the Reds this season.

Domestic Cups

There are a couple of competitions that people seem to forget when discussing important trophies – the FA Cup and the League Cup. However, these two managers don’t forget it, and stats are there to prove it.

Pep Guardiola won four League Cup titles in a row, before narrowly missing out on the fifth last season when Liverpool won it on penalties against Chelsea. Both teams have the strength in depth to win every possible trophy this season, so keep an eye on the domestic cups as well.

Even though these two teams are favourites for the cup competitions, you can find competitive odds at Paddy Power for either of them to win it. There is no such thing as an unimportant competition when Liverpool and Manchester City are in question, so expect another fierce battle in the cup campaigns.

Following last year’s success when winning the cup double and the joy it brought to the fans, Liverpool will look to repeat that, and they might just do so.
