Jessica Biel Shares Why She and Justin Timberlake Left Los Angeles?

Jessica Biel Justin Timberlake Move from Los Angeles

Jessica Biel and her husband, Justin Timberlake, have made a significant life change by moving away from Los Angeles.

In a recent interview on the SiriusXM show “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” on May 22, the actress opened up about their decision, emphasizing the need to provide a more normal upbringing for their children away from the constant glare of the public eye.

Escaping the Spotlight

During the interview, Biel reflected on the challenges of raising children in the public eye. She shared that the intense attention from fans and paparazzi in major cities like Los Angeles and New York made it difficult for their family to enjoy any semblance of privacy.

“I don’t really think they necessarily respect that, you know, if we’re out and about with our kids,” Biel said, referring to the relentless scrutiny they faced.

Country and State Dependent Privacy

Biel noted that the level of intrusion varied depending on the location. “It can be somewhat country-dependent, where if we’re in this country, in the States, it’s kind of like state-by-state,” she explained.

“You get hammered on the East Coast, you kind of get hammered on the West Coast. That’s why we don’t really live there anymore.” The couple decided that relocating was necessary to shield their sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3, from the invasive nature of their public lives.

Creating a Sense of Normalcy

The actress highlighted the importance of establishing a sense of normalcy for their children, despite the public-facing aspects of their careers. “It’s just trying to create some normalcy for these kids, and we want to share our family with our loved ones and friends,” Biel said.

She emphasized that she and Timberlake are committed to making choices that feel authentic and protective of their family’s privacy, despite their children growing up in an inevitably social media-dominated world.

Letting the Kids Decide

Interestingly, Biel shared that she and Timberlake want their children to have the freedom to choose whether they want to live in the limelight. “I know this very social media world is where they exist and where they live, and that will be a very big part of their life and their reality,” she noted. “I just don’t want it to be on my account, so we try to engage in a way that feels authentic. It’s just our family choice.”

Life in Montana and Tennessee

In October 2021, the couple listed their Hollywood Hills home for $35 million, as they had been spending more time at their residence in Montana. A source told PEOPLE, “They’re rarely in L.A. and are happy to live in Montana.

“In addition, the couple owned a 27-acre property in Tennessee, which they listed for $10 million in August 2023. However, Biel reportedly did not enjoy living in Nashville and preferred the lifestyle in Montana.

The decision by Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake to relocate from Los Angeles stems from their intention to shield their children from the constant public scrutiny that accompanies their fame.

By choosing to live in locations that offer more privacy and normalcy, they hope to provide a more balanced upbringing for their sons, allowing them the freedom to decide their own paths in the future.
