The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has been creating quite a buzz with its upcoming release. Recent leaks suggest that while the specs of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 might not significantly differ from its predecessor, the Fold 5, its design improvements and additional features justify a higher price tag.
A new video leak has showcased the Galaxy Z Fold 6 alongside the Fold 5, highlighting some of the significant design changes and enhancements.
Sleeker Design and Improved Display
According to a video posted by TheSINZA on YouTube, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 boasts a sleeker and more practical design compared to the Fold 5. Despite being one of the best foldable phones on the market, the Galaxy Fold 5 has often been criticized for its tall and narrow front screen. The Fold 6 addresses this with a sharper and more angular design and a more discreet, thinner hinge.
The video reveals that the Fold 6 has a noticeably wider cover screen. Although the width has only increased from 57mm to 60mm, this change makes a significant difference in usability.
By tweaking its shape and slimming down the bezels, Samsung has managed to widen the screen without increasing the phone’s overall width. The screen size has also grown slightly from 6.2 inches to 6.3 inches.
Thinner and Lighter
The Fold 6 is slimmer than its predecessor, measuring only 12.5 millimetres when folded compared to the Fold 5’s 13.4mm. Additionally, it is rumoured to be 14 grams lighter than the Fold 5. When unfolded, the Fold 6 appears wider, measuring 132.6mm, compared to the Fold 5’s 129.9mm.
Although the inner screen still has a visible crease, it is unlikely to be a major issue when the phone is turned on.
Camera and AI Features
Despite rumours suggesting an upgraded camera module design, the Fold 6 will reportedly have the same camera specs as the Fold 5. This includes a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens.
However, the Fold 6 is expected to come with several AI features, including one that turns hand-drawn doodles into proper images.
Release Date and Pricing
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to be announced on July 10 at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event, which is likely to take place in Paris. This early announcement aligns with Samsung’s strategy to gain maximum exposure during the Summer Olympics, where the company is an official sponsor. The market release is anticipated for August.
Pricing details are still speculative, but it is expected that the base model with 256GB of storage will start at $1,899.99, which is $100 more than the Fold 5.
The 512GB model is expected to be priced at $2,019.99, while the 1TB variant may cost $2,259.99. Samsung is likely to offer substantial trade-in deals, similar to previous years, making the device more accessible.
Wrap up
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 represents a significant design evolution over the Fold 5, with improvements in screen size, weight, and thickness.
While the core specs remain similar, the design changes and additional AI features make it a compelling upgrade. With its official unveiling just around the corner, Samsung fans have much to look forward to this summer.
