Three Ways to Revel, Connect, and Bond with Your Kids

Bond with Your Kids

Have you ever wondered about how to transform a boring weekend into a fun family retreat? If yes, then one of the ways is to set a little time aside for the things that feel like a retreat. For instance, you can set aside some time to plan a vacation from your regular life.

At this point, you might be working, hustling, and doing all the things that you need to do to ensure that your lives can keep running smoothly – your jobs, your businesses, and your household. During all this, make sure to set aside a little time to revel, connect, and bond with your kids.

Look At Memories Together

To bond with your kids and spend quality time at home, you can walk down memory lane with your kids. You definitely have old pictures on your phone or an album from various occasions, including the day your child was born or when you were in middle school.

Perhaps you discover some old picture that you have to send to your sibling or something that you have to tell your child about. For instance, it could be about the time that you were pregnant with your child or expecting them.

Believe us when we tell you that it is an amazing experience to sit down and tell stories to your kids. These could be stories about how you and your partner met or stories about how they came into the world. If they are old enough to understand, you can tell your kids about how their coming into the world changed and how you changed your family forever.

Think about how such moments can influence your children’s lives. It can be incredibly soothing to you and your kids and the nervous system to settle in for some storytelling and bonding in that way.

Plan A Vacation

It doesn’t matter where you go; there are some things that you can do to make this family outing special for you and for your kids. For instance, you can shop for family matching outfits before the vacation as a way to bond and create a family identity.

Also, while you are at it, make sure to leave the phones at home or at least turn off the notifications. There is a chance that you might not have had a phone while growing up, and you might have experienced everyone getting on just fine anyway.

We believe that you might actually be surprised at how you can actually survive without the phones. If the idea of going on a vacation with your family without your tech gadget breaks you out in hives, then you must try going in granny style.

All you need to do is get yourself a simple phone – not a smartphone – and you will be surprised at how many conversations will start rolling your way with your kids once you put your tech gadget away or simply leave it at home.

The key to planning a fun activity with your kid is selecting an activity that both you and your kids enjoy.

Plan A Family Movie Night

Another activity that you can do to bond with your kids is planning a movie night together. You can, however, take the night out of the family night and make it a day or evening activity instead. Also, before the movie night kicks in, make sure to make your kids active participants by giving them different jobs to do.

You could ask them to arrange the sitting area using cushions and mattresses. You could also ask them to pick their favorite snacks to nibble on during the movie. Also, prepare for everything in advance; you can ask your kids to write three movie options on tiny notes. Fold the notes and select two movies to watch for the day.

Also, to enjoy the movie night to the fullest so you can have a good, productive day the next morning, you can ask your kids to engage in some pre-screen activities, such as completing their homework. As a parent, you should be doing your homework, too. Your kids might ask you to watch a movie with them, but the movie might be a tad bit too dark for them as kids are kids, and there are reasons why there are movie categories.

Some of the movies are rated as dark, and you certainly want to avoid such movies being watched by your kids.

The Takeaway

Spending quality time with your kids is essential for building a strong relationship and creating memories that will last a lifetime. In the end, it comes down to the quality of time that you spend with your kids and not the actual time that you spend with them. So, make sure that every minute that you set up for your kids is worth a lifetime.
