Gwyneth Paltrow has shared candid details about her on-screen romance with Timothée Chalamet in their upcoming film, Marty Supreme. The movie, directed by Josh Safdie, is loosely based on the life of table tennis champion Martin “Marty” Reisman. Paltrow, 52, plays a woman married to a member of the so-called “Ping-Pong mafia” and becomes entangled with Chalamet’s character in what she describes as a “transactional” relationship.
A Role Filled with Intimacy
Paltrow revealed that her character and Chalamet’s Marty share an intense connection that involves several intimate moments. “There’s a lot — a lot,” she emphasized, highlighting the physical nature of their on-screen relationship.

Paltrow’s Thoughts on Intimacy Coordinators
As a veteran actress, Paltrow admitted she was unfamiliar with the now-common role of intimacy coordinators, professionals who ensure that actors feel comfortable and safe while filming sensitive scenes.
“There’s now something called an intimacy coordinator, which I did not know existed,” she said in an interview with media Fair. When the coordinator on set asked if she was comfortable with a particular interaction, Paltrow responded, “I was like, ‘Girl, I’m from the era where you get naked, you get in bed, the camera’s on.’”
Feeling confident in her experience, Paltrow and Timothée Chalamet agreed that they didn’t need as much supervision. “We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back,’” she recalled. However, she acknowledged that the role might be valuable for younger actors, saying, “I don’t know how it is for kids who are starting out, but … if someone is like, ‘Okay, and then he’s going to put his hand here,’ I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that.”
